Project Description

Brief Project Description Student Volunteers will travel and conduct Sports Camps in multiple locations (churches). This experience is ideal for those interested in sports, those who enjoy working with campers in grades 1-6, as well as those that plan on going into teaching. This will be a summer full of sports, ministry, learning, growing and building relationships.

Additional Details Staff will assist in putting on a week-long, Monday-Friday, 9am-4pm Sports Camp. They will 1) lead daily Bible Studies, 2) teach a daily Sport Time, 3) assist with Worship and Recreation, and 4) participate in Opening and Closing Ceremonies. A week-long training will prepare one for every aspect of camp you will lead.

What type of student is needed? We need someone that has exposure playing sports and is capable of teaching a sports time, lead a Bible Study, and enjoy being around students of Elementary age and possibly Junior High. Someone who enjoys sports and/or plans on a teaching career will greatly benefit from this experience. Sports we offer include Cheerleading, Basketball, Soccer, Baseball and Flag Football.

What do you plan to do to mentor the student volunteers spiritually? The ministry to the student volunteers begins at our week-long Training Week where we lay the foundation for each week of camp. They will learn how we work with students and how we minister to them through Bible Studies, Sport Time and other aspects of camp. Our onsite Camp Director will lead them daily in camp routine and expectations during each week of camp. Their summer supervisor will meet with them throughout Training Week and regularly during the summer.

If possible, suggest a possible weekly schedule for the student(s) or attach separately: Training Week - Getting ready for camp by learning, preparing, and doing everything we will experience at camp. We head off to camp on Saturday after Training Week. Each Saturday - Travel to next location and set up for camp. Each Sunday - Attend church at camp location. Set up for camp. Each Monday - Thursday: Camp from 9a.m.-4p.m.; debrief, plan for the next day. Each Friday - Camp from 9a.m.-3:00p.m.; 3:00p.m.-4p.m. - Parent Closing Ceremonies Saturday - Travel to next Camp location. Begin set-up for camp.
