EUROPE AND BRAZIL WORKING TOGETHER is a non-profit-making association created with the aim of supporting the development of successful business relations between the European Union and Brazil, and at the same time promoting political and cultural links between the two partners. And welcome to “Transatlantic Relations in Flux,” a briefing on the U.S.-EU relationship hosted by the U.S. Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe, also known as the Helsinki Commission. For those of who you may not know, the Helsinki Commission is an independent U.S. government agency focused on human rights, economics and security in the 57 North American and European countries that make up the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, or the OSCE.     The Meir Amit Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center October 5, 2010 The European Campaign to End the Siege on Gaza (ECESG) is an anti-Israel, pro-Hamas umbrella organization which participated in the Mavi Marmara flotilla. The ECESG is currently involved in organizing an upgraded flotilla, and in other projects to further isolate Israel, part of the campaign to delegitimize it. The Sfendoni 8000, the ECESG's vessel in the Mavi Marmara flotilla. The number refers to the 8000 Palestinian terrorists detained by Israel. 253-10 2 Overview 1. The European Campaign to End the Siege on Gaza (ECESG) is an anti-Israel, pro Hamas umbrella organization operating in Europe. It participated in the last flotilla (which ended with a violent confrontation aboard the Mavi Marmara) along with a coalition of four other anti-Israel organizations led by the Turkish IHH. Since then the ECESG and the other coalition members have been intensively promoting new programs with the objective of embarrassing Israel and deepening its isolation. The coalition projects include an upgraded flotilla which has been organizing for several months as Freedom Fleet 2 (its organizers hope to include more than 20 ships from various countries), and sending a plane to the Gaza Strip. 2. The ECESG was founded in 2007, the same year as Hamas' violent takeover of the Fatah and Palestinian Authority institutions in the Gaza Strip. Its declared objectives are "the complete lifting" of the so-called Israeli "siege" of the Gaza Strip and bringing humanitarian assistance to its residents. However, beyond that goal, which is supported by Western human rights organizations and activists, lie hidden its undeclared political objectives.

Welcome word Dear colleagues, We would like to warmly welcome you to the official launch of our publication Investing in children’s services, improving outcomes, hosted by Nathalie Griesbeck MEP and supported by the ALDE group. Early investment and intervention are key for children’s development and later outcomes, as documented by a large body of evidence which shows that the early years are crucial in people’s development and impact on adults’ social, economic and labour outcomes. The participation at this event of over 130 participants from 21 European countries, at all levels of policy, practice and governance, certainly underlines the relevance of this topic. The European Social Network (ESN) has been working on children’s services for several years. In particular, between 2013 and 2016 we have been working with directors of children’s services, government, child welfare agencies and experts in children’s services in 14 European countries to contribute to implementing the European Commission’s Recommendation on investing in children. This broad collaboration has resulted in a comprehensive analysis of child welfare and child protection policies and services in those countries and a cross-country comparison of the situation in Europe, which we gladly present in our study Investing in children’s services, improving outcomes.

R. G. de Vasconcelos was born in Porto in 1944. He has headed the Institute of Strategic and International Studies (IEEI), of which he is a co-founder, since 1980. He contributes, on matters connected with European affairs, foreign and security policy and defence, to a variety of publications including books and specialist newspapers and magazines with a widespread readership in Portugal, the rest of Europe and worldwide. The most recent book for which he was responsible and to which he contributed is Valores da Europa – Identidade e Legitimidade, published in 1999. Notre Europe Notre Europe is an independent research and policy unit whose objective is the study of Europe – its history and civilisations, integration process and future prospects. The association was founded by Jacques Delors in the autumn of 1996. It has a small team of five in-house researchers from various countries. Notre Europe participates in public debate in two ways. First, publishing internal research papers and second, collaborating with outside researchers and academics to contribute to the debate on European issues. These documents are made available to a limited number of decision-makers, politicians, socio-economists, academics and diplomats in the various EU Member States.
