Camellia Cottage, St Andrew’s Road, Knodishall, Saxmundham, Suffolk IP17 1UR Price £345,000 SOUTHWOLD SAXMUNDHAM T: 01502722065 T: 01728 605511 www.jennie-jones.com E: [email protected] E: [email protected] Camellia Cottage is an enchanting detached two bedroom bungalow, which occu- pies a secluded plot at the heart of the well served Suffolk village of Knodishall, within walking distance of the village pub, shop, and primary school. The accommodation includes two double bedrooms, which are served by a newly fitted contemporary shower room, a fitted kitchen/breakfast room and a well pro- portioned sitting room. There is an attractive conservatory which overlooks the stunning landscaped gar- den. The garden, which has been meticulously maintained, features a wealth of established trees and shrubs, including banana and palm trees, evergreen camellia, traditional herbaceous borders, pea shin- gled pathways and cool seating areas. There is a raised water feature, a sun terrace and pergola, pro- ductive grapevine and pathways which lead to the front of the garden which is equally well stocked with herbaceous borders. A block paved driveway, accessed via double metal gates leads to the single gar- age. The property benefits from a large timber garden shed, divided into bays but measuring 42 feet x 6 feet overall. The accommodation is well presented and benefits from uPVC double glazed windows and from gas-fired central heating. The property has scope for further extension, subject to the usual planning consent. St. Andrew's Road is an unadopted lane at the very heart of the village. Knodishall lies conveniently between Saxmundham and Aldeburgh with easy access to Snape and Thorpeness.

02/05/2020 Aldeburgh to Saxmundham walk - SWC Saturday Walkers Club www.walkingclub.org.uk Aldeburgh to Saxmundham walk Aldeburgh to Thorpeness seafront, an old railway trackbed, North Warren nature reserve, the Sandlings Walk to the village of Friston, and across fields to Saxmundham Length 16 kilometres OS Maps Aldeburgh, grid reference TM465564, and Saxmundham station, grid reference TM303352, are both in Suffolk. OS Explorer 212 (Woodbridge and Saxmundham). OS Landranger 156. Toughness 3 out of 10. Features The walk follows the sea front North from Aldeburgh to Thorpeness, then takes an old railway trackbed South. You turn West to cross North Warren nature reserve and follow the Sandlings Walk to the village of Friston (diverting to Knodishall for lunch while the pub at Friston is closed), then continue across fields to Saxmundham. Shortening A more direct route from Point 1 to Point 2 is described in the text, which misses out Thorpeness and reduces the the Walk distance by 1.1 kms. A circular walk of 12.9 kms, returning to Aldeburgh from Point 2, is also described in the text. This also draws on the directions in SWC Walk Wickham Market to Aldeburgh. Note that the main route is via the Butchers Arms at Knodishall, but if you do not intend to visit this pub, a more direct alternative from Point 3 to Point 4 is described in the text, which re-joins the main route just before Friston. This reduces the distance by 0.8 kms. An alternative route from Point 5 to Point 6 is included via the Old Chequers at Friston.

  • Lost Features of an Ancient Landscape Robert Steerwood
48 1 LOST FEATURES OF AN ANCIENT LANDSCAPE byROBERTSTEERWOOD THE MID-COASTAL AREA of east Suffolk, incorporating the Blything and Plomesgate Hundreds, is particularly rich in place-names of the early medieval period. The settlements of Aldringham, Knodishall and Friston are but a few of the recognised sites possessing Old English nomenclature. Many lesser known examples remain buried in texts, field names, maps and perambulations, as these gradually emerge they serve to offer a fuller understanding of the social and cultural significance of an ancient landscape. Polsborough Gate The name Tolsborough Gate' appears four times in "Cross Roads" itineraries recorded by john Kirby in 1735 (Suffolk Traveller, p 30, 35, 36). From Blithburgh to Melton lrn. 4 1/2 f. the right goes to Knodishall, the left to Aldeburgh, leaving a Windmill a little on the right, At 2m. 3 1/2 f. the right goes to Saxmundham, the left to Aldeburgh. • This List Is for the 2019/2020 School Year Only
Catchment Area List for Villages and Parishes The information given in this list should be used as a guide only and may change. It is correct at the time of publication (12/09/18). For up-to-date information about a particular address, please contact the Admissions Team on 0345 600 0981. It should not be taken to have any definitive administrative or legal significance. Note 1 - Important: Please refer to the Directory of Schools in Suffolk for the relevant school year to see the school's admissions policy available online at www.suffolk.gov.uk/admissions. Some voluntary aided, foundation, free schools and academies do not operate catchment areas and therefore there may be no catchment school against your address. A catchment area school may not be the nearest school to your home address. You can find out which are your three nearest Suffolk schools by putting your postcode into our new Nearest School Checker (which is based on the statutory walking distance including rights of way). The checker can be found at nearestschool.suffolk.gov.uk. Note 2 - Suffolk’s School Travel Policy 2019/2020 has been amended. It is important that you understand how this might affect your child’s eligibility for Suffolk County Council (SCC) funded school travel before you apply for a school place. Children living in Suffolk who will be starting at a new school in September 2019 will be eligible for SCC funded school travel when they meet the statutory walking distance criteria from their home to the nearest suitable school that would have had a place available for them.
