Chase Simpson (vocals/guitar) Josh Jove (vocals/guitar) Sebastian Harris (drums Jacob Pillot (bass) The Shelters united in Los Angeles in 2014, a band of young men inspired by a shared love of music and the glorious city they call home. They set out writing songs, starting with little more than determination but soon conjuring up a fresh and unified sound that reflects the past, present and future of Los Angeles rock 'n roll. As Paste Magazine editor-in-chief Joshua Jackson wrote recently when reviewing the The Shelters’ debut EP, that sound is “fuzzy, bluesy and melodic…It’s as if the Laurel Canyon harmonies of the 1970s spent the glam rock ‘80s in The Viper Room on the Sunset Strip before getting a 2015 update in Silverlake.” Chase Simpson was born and raised in Los Angeles. Hungry to meet his musical kindred spirits, he would find them in Josh Jove and Sebastian Harris. Josh grew up in Florida and eventually came to LA, spending years navigating life as a working musician. Sebastian comes from Topanga Canyon, CA and played in his fair share of bands before finding a profound connection playing with Chase and Josh. Jacob Pillot, also a native Angeleno, eventually joined to round out the lineup on bass. The Shelters soon found the ear of one of LA’s musical heroes, Tom Petty, who signed on to co-produce what will become The Shelters' debut full-length record, to be released in 2016. But first we have The Shelters EP, a collection of four songs from the forthcoming album that Buzzbands.la editor and former LA Times music writer Kevin Bronson says “ought to have fans of guitar rock genuflecting…they are much more, in sophistication and skill, than a garage band…classic, yet current.” The Shelters have been touring throughout 2015 and will continue to spend time on the road this November and into 2016. Jambase, reviewing a show in March 2015, called The Shelters “rock missionaries.” Catch them when you can and witness an exciting new addition to the rock 'n roll landscape. .
