JK www.patrickwanis.com THE PSYCHIC CONNECTION www.patrickwanis.com Everyone has at least one person who has had a major impact and influence on his or her life – one person who has played a leading role in defining and molding his or her personality, character and traits. For me, that person was my grandmother. My grandmother lived with our family from my birth. We were extremely close. She would take care of me, and I would often stay home at night instead of going out with my family just to be with her. It was my grandmother who instilled in me my values and taught me love and compassion. As most grandmothers do, she offered me more freedom than my parents. She would let me stay up later than normal and pretend she didn’t notice me peeking at the TV through her crocheted blanket when I was supposed to be asleep. When she was ill, I would come home from elementary school during lunch to check up on her – home was just a five-minute walk from school. By the time I turned ten, my grandmother was physically weak. Her eyesight was waning and she had heart trouble. A couple of times she was rushed to the hospital by ambulance. www.patrickwanis.com One night, as we pulled into the driveway of our home after we returned from visiting her in the hospital, I said to my mother and brother in a matter-of-fact manner, “We shouldn’t cry if Nana dies, because there is the resurrection.” (We were deeply religious.) Somehow I knew Nana was going to pass away. I hadn’t spoken with any doctors and knew nothing of her condition. I just sensed that she was going to die, and at the time, I had no idea from where that thought came. She died later that night. I never realized it at the time, but that was my first powerful psychic experience with my sixth sense. THE SIXTH SENSE The 1999 motion picture The Sixth Sense highlighted the amazing power of one human potential – the sixth sense. In the movie, Haley Joel Osment plays a young boy named Cole Sear, who struggles to overcome his fear of the dead. He is a “freak” because he can see dead people. He learns that the only way to overcome his fears and rid himself of the ghosts and spirits is to talk to them, determine what they want www.patrickwanis.com and help them. In the process, he passes an important message from his dead grandmother to her daughter (his mother), bringing her peace, love and closure – something many of us long for. So what exactly is the sixth sense? It is our intuition, our instinctive knowing without rational processes. It is an impression, a hunch, a gut feeling. Intuition is when we know and sense something but can’t explain it logically. We walk into a crowded room, see a stranger and feel instantly attracted or repulsed, even though we haven’t yet spoken. And we can’t explain why we feel what we do. It’s not the way the person is dressed or the way he or she looks. We just sense something about them that we can’t explain. That is intuition, the sixth sense. My knowing when my grandmother was going to die was an example of my sixth sense in action. It has happened to me many times since then. When I lived in Spain and was performing my stage hypnosis show, an agent got me a three-month contract in a hotel in Lanzarote Island. I arrived and was shown to my room. www.patrickwanis.com I clearly remember walking in, and something – a quiet inner voice – softly told me, “Don’t unpack your bags. This place is not for you.” Logically, that didn’t make sense because it was a beautiful and spectacular hotel – but it just didn’t feel right. Lo and behold, just three days later, my agent called to say there was a glitch in the contract, and I was booked instead into the largest resort in Europe. That’s intuition. This sixth sense is our psychic awareness, the door to receiving information from the universe, from Spirit. We all have it and we all can develop it. The greatest key to turning on your sixth sense is to clear yourself of all the muck in your life – to let go of the past and forgive everyone; then you can fill your world with love and acceptance, which opens your psychic pathway to contacting the other side. Later on in this book, you’ll learn techniques to help you develop your psychic abilities and power – as well as do-it-yourself techniques to contact loved ones who have crossed over. www.patrickwanis.com The sixth sense uses all of our other five senses to communicate to us. That means the messages and information we receive may be in the form of a feeling, a voice, a smell, a taste, a sound, a thought, a vision – or even a puff of air. THE INNER VOICE Be aware that the inner voice that is your intuition is not the same as the inner chatterbox. In my AMI MicroMag Look Into My Eyes: How To Hypnotize Anyone, I explain the difference. Your chatterbox is that loud, negative voice inside your head that says, “I can’t do it...”, “I am fat...” or “You’ll never be rich...,” “You’re stupid...” You’re ugly...” Your intuition speaks to you in a soft, gentle whisper. It’s always positive – even if it’s heeding you to avoid a certain action. The loud inner chatterbox comes from the negative programming we have had most of our lives, while our intuition comes from a higher plane. Only by quieting and calming the loud chatterbox can we open ourselves to hear and www.patrickwanis.com sense our intuition. Therefore, the more relaxed we are and the more inner peace we have, the more open and ready we will be to receive messages from the other side. Mediums have the ability to communicate with the spirits of the dead as well as with spirits and entities of other dimensions and planes of existence. The earliest historical descriptions of mediums occur in Chinese literature written almost four thousand years ago. Ancient Asian emperors consulted these mediums – known as Wu – who claimed to communicate advice, information and insights given by spirits of the deceased. There are mental and physical mediums. Mental mediums, such as John Edward and James Van Praagh, receive inner visions, experience clairaudience (hearing messages and voices) and access mental impressions (thoughts).

Hales At a Church conference in 1831, Hyrum Smith invited his brother to explain how the Book of Mormon originated. Joseph declined, saying: “It was not intended to tell the world all the particulars of the coming forth of the Book of Mormon.”1 His pat answer—which he repeated on several occasions—was simply that it came “by the gift and power of God.”2 Attributing the Book of Mormon’s origin to supernatural forces has worked well for Joseph Smith’s believers, then as well as now, but not so well for critics who seem certain natural abilities were responsible.     "MIRROR WITH A MEMORY": PHOTOGRAPHY AS METAPHOR AND MATERIAL OBJECT IN VICTORIAN CULTURE Sarah Worman A Thesis Submitted to the Graduate College of Bowling Green State University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of MASTER OF ARTS May 2017 Committee: Piya Pal-Lapinski, Advisor Kim Coates © 2017 Sarah Worman All Rights Reserved iii ABSTRACT Piya Pal-Lapinski, Advisor In the Victorian period, photography was associated with the ghosts of history, con artists in the streets of London, and cultural anxieties about the future of Victorian society. The Victorian practice of photographing ghosts, or spirit photography, showed how Victorians viewed the past, present, and future. By examining the cultural artifact of Georgiana Houghton’s Chronicles of the Photographs of Spiritual Beings (1882), it becomes clear how photography affected Victorian literature as well as Victorian culture. In the short stories, “Oke of Okehurst” (1886) and “A Wicked Voice” (1887), Vernon Lee compared Victorian produced art to art from history. For Lee, the fast paced and highly commercialized art, which was influenced by photography, was not as powerful as art with historical context. An earlier work, Thomas Hardy’s A Laodicean: A Story of To-Day (1881), also showed the connections between photography, history, and uncertainty. The characters try to use photography to try and preserve a crumbling medieval castle, but their attempts end in failure. While technology like telegraphs gives Paula a sense of power, the novel leaves her wishing she had a more stable connection to the past and the future. These examples of Victorian literature show that photography affected Victorian culture at a deeper level than previously thought.

Harrison of the early development of Mr. Arnold Clare's mediumship, the descriptions of the séances, the revelations of Peter and the writing of this book took place during the war years 1940-41. As enemy action on London intensified, the physical séances ceased and in the autumn of 1940 were replaced by discussion circles. The first few circles took place in the author's house before a company of about twenty people. It was soon appreciated that the intelligence (known as Peter), speaking through the entranced medium, was of a high order and worthy of reporting. So these large discussion groups gave way to a small circle held in the medium's house, attended by Mr. and Mrs. Clare, Mr. and Mrs. Hart, Mrs. Edwards and the author, an occasional visitor and with Mrs. W. B. Cleveland as stenographer. The procedure at these circles would be that, in normal white light, Mr. Clare would enter into a trance state. His Guide, Peter, taking control, would discourse upon the selected topic answering all questions fluently and without hesitation. Frequently, during these sittings, the air-raid sirens would be heard and the local anti- aircraft guns would be in action.

    December 28, 2013 The Spirits of Ouija: Four Decades of Communication By Patrick Keller From our 2nd Annual Thanksgiving Ouija Session. There are a few great people out there who have served as inspiration for my recent interest in spirit communication through the Ouija, and I’ve blogged about these folks before. If you happen to be looking for books on the topic, you probably won’t find many. I should rephrase that last statement. If you’re looking for serious books by people with experience and years of research, and not written out of fear, you’ll only find a few. Karen A. Dahlman’s latest book, The Spirits of Ouija: Four Dacades of Communication is one of them. I loved the book! Here is my review. Karen A. Dahlman, who is a true Ouija-ologist, begins by giving the reader a brief history of the Ouija Board and the misconceptions that many have, thanks to Hollywood for the most part. As I mentioned in a recent post, Karen and I tend to share the same opinion when it comes to fear and the Ouija. In chapter 2 of her book, Karen says: “Fear is a big reason for Ouija being cast off into an oblivion of negativity. People often fear what they don’t understand. It is easier to fear something than to take the time to learn about it. Fear is first and foremost created by assumptions. Assuming that all communications with the Beyond, coming from outside our typical experiences and the world of our everyday senses and faculties, is critically labeled ridiculous or blasphemous, is narrow-minded in itself.

Christianity, 'Tt has existed for ages in the midst of heathen darkness, and its presence in savage lands has been marked by no march of progress, bv no advance in civilization, by no development of education, by no illumination of the mental faculties, by no increase of intelligence, but its acceptance has been productive of and coexistent with the most profound ignor- ance, the most barbarous superstitions, the most unspeakable immor- talities, the basest idolatries and the worst atrocities which the world has ever known."'
