REVIEWS The wonderful dancers enacting the story should have left the singers to do what they are best at. The veteran Javanese court dancer Rusini Sidi, the very young but accomplished Eko Supriyanto, and Astri Kusuma Wardani, who mixes Javanese classical dance and martial arts, have made major contributions to the production. Mar 5, 2007 by Janos Gereben, The Examiner “Kumudha, her Prince and the omnipresent Storyteller are physically manifested by mesmerizing Javanese dancers Rusini Sidi, Eko Supriyanto and Astri Kusama Wardani, respectively, who inform their singing counterparts' every word with elegant, original choreography”. By DAVID CALLICOTT, Variety Sun., Nov. 26, 2006 “The appearance of Eko Supriyanto and Slamet Gundono in a bar of Garin’s Opera Jawa, where blues music (in Javanese!) is mixed with Sumba’s rap music, is not only fitting and harmonious but, surprisingly, this unimaginable blend also radiates great sensuality, and this is all the more so because of Eko’s agile movement on the bar in such a way that all the bar tables seem to form Eko’s private stage. For a dancer the caliber of Eko, every place on earth is his stage and the residents of the earth are the spectators”. By Leila S. Chudori AsiaViews, Edition: 30/III/Aug/2006 Tempo, No. 49/VI/08-14 August 2006 “Elsewhere, the wonderful Indonesian dancer Eko Supriyanto, the only male in the seven-strong troupe, weaved a special magic with his sinuous movement in the number for three tenors, 'Duo Seraphim'. I don't mind admitting that this obstinate unbeliever, this unrepentant lover of the sophisticated, the complex, the questioning, was moved to tears. Pettitt, Stephen Dancing to Monteverdi, The Spectator Oct 25, 2003 “Jika selama ini Tubuh acap menjadi bagian dari sebuah peta besar koreografi, Eko Justru menjadikan koreografi itu ada di bagian dalam tubuhnya”. Dewi Ria Utami, Koran Tempo, 9 Maret 2002 EKO SUPRIYANTO’S CV

“Eko supriyanto, 31, a stuning, supple dancer with wavy charcoal hair that tumbeles below his waist, whose body coils, uncoils and then stretches, seemingly to infinity, in the symbolic liberation of Javanese peasant.”. Jane Perlez, the New York Times, March 4 2002. “Then, the impossibly fluid Eko Supriyanto in “Slow Blues”, gliding through elegant little essays in cool, making sudden Javanese warrior dives and lyrical, Elvis-like recoveries to the bluesy guitar of Bill Fowler and solid bass of Domenic Genova.” Jennifer Fisher, Los Angeles Times, December 8, 2001 “Javanese dancer-choreographer Eko Supriyanto…contributed "Sosok", a complex, disarmingly intimate and sensual woman's ensemble piece that deployed wicker paddle-fans and small cones in inventive, unexpected contexts”. Lewis Segal, Los Angeles Times, June 11, 2001 “Madonna is lucky. Local audiences have been stunned by Supriyanto’ s supple, exacting, mesmerizing style….it was Supriyanto’s night, and he filled it as satisfyingly as a sigh fills a pause after extreme pleasure “. Jennifer Fisher, Los Angeles Times, May 28, 2001 “Supriyanto is an arresting performer and is worth watching as he continues to develop a unique voice”. Sara Wolf, LA Weekly, December 15-21, 2000 “Supriyanto is equally authoritative in idioms of East and West….satisfying at the extremes of his range”. Lewis Segal, Los Angeles Times, August 7, 2000
