Dear Pageant Contestants and Parents: Please complete, sign, and return the enclosed forms by August 31st 2018 at 4 PM. The Miss and Junior Miss Northeast Arkansas District Fair Queen Pageant will be held on September 8th, 2018 at the Brookland High School Auditorium located at 100 W School Street, Brookland, AR. Check in time is 12:30 PM for Junior Miss Interviews and 1:30 PM for Miss Interviews. Proof of age will be required at check-in. The on-stage portion of the pageant begins at 6 PM, starting with Junior Miss. Contestants can leave between interview & the beginning of the on-stage portion *at their own risk*. The evening portion will begin at 6:00 PM sharp. Contestants will be judged on interview, one piece swimsuit, evening gown, and onstage questions for Miss and interview, sportswear, evening gown, and onstage question for Junior Miss. Once the contestant checks in, she will not be allowed to leave the campus; so she should come fully prepared to stay throughout the pageant. Only one person will be allowed backstage to assist with make-up and dressing. Miss Contestants must be at least 17 years of age and not more than 21 years of age/Junior Miss Contestants must be at least 13 and not more than 16 on the opening day of the Arkansas State Fair & Livestock Show (October 16, 2018). **The 2018 Miss NEA District Fair Queen will receive a prize package consisting of: $500 from the NEA District Fair Association 1 hour photo session from Portraits by Elena $25.00 gift card to The Refinery $20 Spray tans, 20% off hair/make-up and body waxing from Beautiful You Salon **The 2018 Junior Miss NEA District Fair Queen will receive a prize package consisting of: $300 from the NEA District Fair Association 1 hour photo session from Portraits by Elena. $25.00 gift card to The Refinery $20 Spray tans, 20% off hair/make-up and body waxing from Beautiful You Salon. Contestant’s Signature/Date Parent’s Signature/Date (if under 18) ____________________________________________ _____________________________________________ QUALIFICATIONS & RULES • $20 Entry Fee/$10 Optional Side Awards (Must be provided by deadline *Make Checks payable to NEA District Fair Association*) • Miss: Contestants must be at least 17 years of age and not more than 21 years of age on the opening day of the Arkansas State fair. Junior: Contestants must be at least 13 years of age and not more than 16 years of age on the opening day of the Arkansas State fair. Petite Miss: Contestants must be at least 7 years of age and not more than 9 years of age. Little Miss: Contestants must be at least 10 years of age and not more than 12 years of age. • A contestant must have been born a female and a legal resident of Arkansas. She cannot be, or at any time have been, married, pregnant, or have had a child. • A contestant must not have ever been convicted of any crime or have any criminal charges pending. • A contestant must compete in only one county contest to compete at NEA District. Contestants must either legally reside or attend school in that county for one full semester immediately preceding the contest. If a contestant whose parents are divorced and live in separate counties has been court ordered to reside jointly with both parents, she can only compete in one of the two counties in which her parents reside or if the family resides to two different counties, she can only compete in one county contest. • Contestants are required to be on time for all events. Absent or tardy contestants may be disqualified at the discretion of the Contest Director. • Entry forms must be filled out entirely & signed by each of the following: (1) Contestant; (2) contestant’s parent or guardian. No additions or corrections will be allowed once the entry form is submitted. Each judge will receive a copy of all entry forms, please fill out the form so it is readable while paying close attention to detail (spelling, grammar, vocabulary, etc). • No entry forms will be accepted after 4:00 pm on AUGUST 31ST, 2018. Entry forms may be scanned/emailed, mailed or hand delivered. • Only one person will be allowed back stage with each contestant. Only contestants are allowed in the facility until after rehearsals have concluded. • The 2018 Miss and Junior Miss Queen must conduct herself properly always. Inappropriate behavior bringing unfavorable publicity to herself and/or the NEA District Fair may result in the Fair Queen relinquishing her title and the forfeiture and return of all prizes and monetary awards. • The reigning NEA District Fair Queen must represent her district at the 2018 State Fair Pageant Failure to do so will result in relinquishing her title and the forfeiture and return of all prizes and monetary awards. • Any display of poor sportsmanship and/or unbecoming conduct, any interference and/or disturbance, or any other behavioral problem created by a contestant, county or district director, traveling companion, parent, relative, or even a supporter of a contestant could result in disqualification of the contestant not only from this year’s contest but all future contests. *MISS COMPETITION INFORMATION* Each contestant will have a private interview with the judges and will be assessed individually and comparatively in Swimsuit and Evening Gown competitions. Contestants will need the following clothing: • Private Interview (50%) – Dress or suit, jewelry and shoes of choice – no hats, gloves or purses. Interviews will last 5 minutes. The Judges and Contestants are not allowed to shake hands or have any physical contact. • Swimsuit (15%) – One-piece swimsuit is required. Must be PROPER. Swimsuits will be checked for modesty at rehearsal. Any contestant doubting the appropriateness of their swimsuit should bring two. No monokini swimsuits allowed. • Evening Gown (35%) – Evening Gown of choice. Jewelry and accessories should be tasteful and compliment the gown. High-heeled shoes are recommended, but not required. Onstage question will be included in this score. *JUNIOR MISS COMPETITION INFORMATION* Contestants will need the following clothing: • Private Interview (50%) - Dress or suit, jewelry and shoes of choice – no hats, gloves or purses. • Sportswear (15%)– Sports attire representing a favorite athletic-type sport such as baseball, tennis, cheerleading, hunting, fishing, gymnastics, dance etc. Props are acceptable, but must be carried. They cannot be used to demonstrate a sport. • Evening Gown (35%) – Evening Gown of choice. Jewelry and accessories should be tasteful and compliment the gown. High-heeled shoes are recommended, but not required. Onstage question will be included in this score. .
