The second annual MRN Educational Summit concluded in late June. It was a great success due in part to the amazing presenters. Joan Eisenstodt, Crystal Washington, Michelle Lenz and Bruce Yungman returned to share their expertise in the breakout sessions. Convention Visitor Representatives from Visit Erie and Visit Galveston shared best practices when working with CVB’s. Our guest speakers will be remembered for a long time to come for their inspirational contribution to the event. We were honored to have Retired NYC Firefighter Lt. Joe Torrillo take the general session stage to share how his day unfolded on September 11, 2001. There was also a serious announcement made at Every time he tells his story, he keeps a promise to the Summit this year. My conversations, inquires remember the 343 fire fighters that lost their lives and official interviews have led me to conclude that day. Joe’s engaging yet humble style focused that military reunions are critical to our veteran on rebuilding both life and country with a sense of community in a wide variety of ways. THE LEGACY OF Bob Hope LIVES ON

When you think of inspirational heroes, Bob Hope should be at the top of the list. His pride in our troops was infectious. His support of them unwavering. For those serving overseas, he was a symbol of home. His USO Shows allowed soldiers to forget the horrors of war if only for a few moments. In 1997 at the age of 94, he was the first and only person to receive the designation of Honorary Veteran of the Armed Forces by the United States Congress. If you are going to impersonate Bob Hope, you better get it right! For over fifteen years, Bill Johnson has been doing just that. During the Educational Summit this year, Bill brought him to life once again, sharing history and humor as only Bob Hope could. I had the chance to sit down with Bill and talk about how he got started as well as what it is like to impersonate this great American icon.

How did this come about? I was doing a dinner show in Las Vegas, and you The reunion was a great success. It gave me time to do some her WWII reunion. I just needed to take pictures research. I read books; and watched lots of clips with them. I really liked Bob Hope so after a bit of to get his mannerisms down. I had a few years to research, I worked up a little comedy sketch. get going.
