The Vice-Chairperson of the Executive Board, Mr Isao Kiso (Japan), opened the first meeting of the Nominations Committee and on the recommendation of the Executive Board, contained in decision 186 EX/Decision 22(IV), the Committee elected as its Chairperson Mr David Hamadziripi (Zimbabwe). 2. The Nominations Committee approved the recommendation of the Executive Board contained in decision 187 EX/Decision 26(v) to elect Madame Katalin Bogyay (Hungary) as President of the 36th session of the General Conference. 3. On recommendation of the Executive Board at its 187th session, the Committee nominated the heads of delegations of 36 Member States for the posts of Vice-Presidents of the 36th session of the General Conference. These Member States are as follows: Albania, Australia, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Croatia, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Denmark, Egypt, El Salvador, France, Germany, Grenada, Kenya, Kuwait, Lao People’s Democratic, Republic, Latvia,Lebanon, Madagascar, Montenegro, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Saint Lucia, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Serbia, Thailand, United States of America, Venezuela (Bolivarian Republic of), Yemen and Zambia. 4. Following the recommendation of the Executive Board at its 186th session, the Nominations Committee nominated the following Chairpersons for the posts of Chairpersons of the 36th session of the General Conference: • General questions, programme support and external relations Commission (PRX Commission): Mr A. Maïlélé (Niger) • Education Commission (ED Commission): Mr Rodolphe Imhoof (Switzerland) • Natural Science Commission (SC Commission): Mr M. Chulavatnatol (Thailand) 2 • Social and Human Sciences Commission (SHS Commission): Mr Ivan José Avila Belloso (Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela): • Culture Commission (CLT Commission): Mr Nureldin Satti (Sudan) • Communication and Information Commission (CI Commission) : Mr Ludovit Molnár (Slovakia) • Finance and Administration Commission (ADM Commission): Ms A. Cummins (Barbados) • Legal Committee (LEG Committee): Ms Victoria Hallum (New Zealand) • Credentials Committee (CRE Committee): Mr Uffe Andreasen (Denmark) • Nominations Committee (NOM Committee): Mr David Hamadziripi (Zimbabwe) 5. The Nominations Committee proceeded to the examination of the nominations for the posts of Vice-Chairpersons and Rapporteurs of the Commissions and Committees. The Nominations Committee adopted its timetable 36 C/NOM/8 Prov and the list of items to be examined during the 36th session of the General conference. 7. The next meeting of the Nominations Committee will be held on Thursday, 27 October 2011, at 10:00 a.m., in Room IV. At its second meeting, the Committee will continue the examination of item 1.5 and then consider item 13.1 – Election of Members of the Executive Board (36 C/NOM/INF.1 and 36 C/NOM/2) and items 13.2 to 13.15 – Elections of the members of Commissions, Committees and other subsidiary organs of the General Conference (36 C/NOM/INF.2, 36 C/NOM/3, 4, 5, 6) and item 13.16 – Appointment of the External Auditor (36 C/NOM/7/INF.1). .
