Wenn Sie nicht im Hafenbüro anrufen und Bescheid geben, dass Sie die Fähre verpassen, dann wird Ihre Buchung wahrschein- lich (ersatzlos) aus dem System herausfliegen. Also einfach vorher umbuchen. Sollten Sie früher am Hafen ankommen, dann fragen Sie einfach nach, ob Platz auf einer früheren Fähre verfügbar ist. Wenn dem so ist, dann bucht man Sie gerne auf die gewünschte Fähre um. NUR SO schaffen Sie eine Voraussetzung dafür, daß wir hinterher etwas für Sie erreichen können, und wenn es nur eine anteilige Erstattung ist. Bezahlen müssen Sie auf jeden Fall erst einmal neu. Und noch schlimmer: Sie bezahlen dann in der Regel den viel höheren Tagespreis! (Übrigens – bei einer Fluggesellschaft verfällt Ihr Ticket auch – und da gibt es überhaupt keinen Pardon…) Warum schicken wir Ihnen das hier mit? Weil es sein könnte, dass Sie und Du auf dem Schiff mit der Idee konfrontiert werdet, ein Upgrade zu der gebuchten Kabine zu kaufen! Diese Möglichkeit besteht immer dann, wenn noch Commodore-Kabinen frei sind… Die meisten unserer Kunden buchen die normalen Seaways Class Kabinen. Das tun wir selbst auch, wenn wir mit der DFDS reisen, weil sie deutlich preiswerter sind. Aber es gibt ein „aber“: So viel teurer müssen die Commodore Class Kabinen gar nicht sein. Machen wir ein ungefähres Rechenexempel, das vor allem dann vorteilhaft ist, wenn Sie neben dem Abendessen auch das Frühstück gebucht/vor-eingekauft haben sollten: In unserem Beispiel kosten die Seaways Class Kabinen (außen) bei 2 Personen bei 4 Personen 215 Euro 190 Euro Plus Frühstück 29,80 Euro 59,60 Euro Die Commodore Class ist mindestens doppelt so groß und natürlich viel, viel bequemer. Mit Einzelbetten, die man zu einem Doppelbett zusammen schieben kann, und einem gefüllten Kühlschrank samt kleinen Snacks (und Fernseher). Normalpreis: 305 Euro 377 Euro Aber vor Ort (beim upgrade) kanns noch preiswerter sein! Davon ziehen sie jetzt aber noch den Frühstückspreis ab, denn er ist im Preis der Commodore mit drin!: - 29,80 Euro - 59,60 Euro Bleibt als Differenz, dann vor Ort zu bezahlen… 60,20 Euro 127,40 Euro Wenn Sie das interessiert und auch wenn kein Flyer in Ihrer Normalkabine liegt: fragen Sie an der Rezeption nach! The Kent and Medway MPs listened carefully to presentations on the future infrastructure that is vital to unlock economic growth, boost job creation and accelerate housing delivery. Port of Dover chief executive, Tim Waggott, speaking on behalf of the business community and council leaders, highlighted the importance to the UK economy of keeping the traffic moving across the River Thames and along the M20/A20 and M2/A2 arteries of Kent - a gateway county connecting the UK with its largest trading partner. Mr Waggott said the Port of Dover handles 17% of the UK’s trade in goods, and if it were a separate country, it would have the 55th biggest economy in the world. Over 10,000 trucks travel through it every day. Together with Eurotunnel, the cross-Channel corridor handles a staggering £220 billion of UK trade in goods. Over half of the HGVs coming from the Port and the Eurotunnel terminal travel to the Midlands and the North of England, often using the M2 and Dartford Tunnel.

Shaw and G. Walbridge A feature of the year was the invasion of Arctic Redpolls Carduelis homemanni and the associated mass of submitted material. Before circulations began, we feared the worst: a huge volume of contradictory reports with differing dates, places and numbers and probably a wide range of criteria used to identify the species. In the event, such fears were mostly unfounded. Several submissions were models of clarity and co-operation; we should like to thank those who got together to sort out often-confusing local situations and presented us with excellent files. Despite the numbers, we did not resort to nodding reports through: assessment remained strict, but the standard of description and observation was generally high (indeed, we were able to enjoy some of the best submissions ever). Even some rejections were 'near misses', usually through no fault of the observers. Occasionally, one or two suffered from inadequate documentation ('Looked just like bird A' not being quite good enough on its own). Having said that, we feel strongly that the figures presented in this report are minimal and a good many less-obvious individuals were probably passed over as 'Mealies' C. flammea flammea, often when people understandably felt more inclined to study the most distinctive Arctics. The general standard of submissions varies greatly. We strongly encourage individuality, but the use of at least the front of the standard record form helps.
