She’s not only renowned for her beautiful voice but also her charity work with children – sponsoring play appara- tus and putting up playgrounds at less fortunate schools in and around Potchefstroom. Tshupane celebrated the opening with a “little school concert”, where Amira and Siki Jo-An and choirs from different schools in Ikageng and Promosa performed. A camera crew from Holland also filmed the opening cele- brations. Even one of her American fans, Jan Andzelm, came from North East Maryland to join in the festivities. Amira was only nine years old when she won “Hol- land’s Got Talent” in 2013. She was born in Nijmegen, Holland and regularly travelled to visit her grandmother in Potchefstroom. While in Potchefstroom, she and her brother, Finsent, wanted to play at a playground but noticed there were none in town. She was also surprised that there weren’t even any playgrounds at some schools. ‘n Fotografie-uitstalling van Towerlantern Fotografie open Dinsdag, 3 September by die Potchefstroomse Hoofmuseum. Die naam Towerlantern is geïnspireer deur die besondere rol wat lig in fotografie speel en lê klem op ‘n foto wat betowering by die kyker moet wek. Johan de Klerk het vir 40 jaar as dosent in toegepaste wiskunde aan die Noordwes-Universiteit klas gegee. Hy het al verskillende fotografiekursusse voltooi, onder meer by Wikus Leeuwner van die Wes-Kaap wat sy kursus by Aus in Namibië aangebied het, asook aanlynkursusse by die Nieu-See- landse fotograaf, Eva Polak. Impressionistiese fotografie is Polak se spesialiteit. De Klerk se gunsteling genre is abstrakte kleurfotografie, naby fotografie asook impressionistiese fotografie. A dream came true for the Potchef- stroom Dorp Rugby Club Women’s team after they were crowned the Leopards League Women’s Club winners for the first time ever this year. Now an even bigger dream needs to be fulfilled – a trip to the prestigi- ous National Club Championships in Cape Town from 5-6 October this year. The team qualified for this prestigious tournament after winning the Leopards League for the first time this season. The big spanner in the works is the lack of finances in order to undertake this trip to Cape Town as the team requires an estimated R 50 000 in order to cover their travel costs.
