Their Limousins taking the premium with steers to 243p/kg and 501kg heifer 239p/kg, both bought by Harvey Bros. Butchers of , St. Ives & ; with a British Blue x 542kg heifer from the same farm selling at 240p/kg to R.J. Trevarthen Ltd of Roskrow. Record Prices again this week – top value heifer was a 744kg Blonde d’Aquitaine x from Messrs. D.L. & A.E. Grigg of Goonhavern realising £1,607 to Messrs. A fair entry saw an overall average for all on offer including plainer out of parlour cows at 126.13p/kg. Relentless demand for all on offer and probably the highest price in ppk seen before in Truro for a cow heifer topping the beef section at a huge 194p/kg. Making £1,216, this was a 627kg Simmental x from Messrs. R.J. & E.J. Hemmings of Lanlivery, with a dairy premium of 176p/kg for a Friesian heifer from Messrs. K. & M. Ferris of Gunwalloe, both bought by David King of Exeter. Dairy cows to 143p/kg for a Swedish Red & White x from Messrs. R.D. A quality entry of mainly younger store cattle sold with fierce competition from buyers from throughout the county and beyond on the promise of more settled weather for several days ahead. Leading the steers were an entry from Messrs. H. Dunstan & Sons of Mabe with four 17mo British Blue crosses at £1,195 and a younger bunch £1,185. Next at £1,080 were a 14½mo pure British Blue pair from a super entry of youngstock from Trevedra Farm Partnership of Sennen with Blue heifer pair making £1,045, and Limousin yearling steers from the same farm to £1,075. Dairy-bred cattle from Messrs. M.S. Manuell & Son of Burngullow saw half a dozen 22mo steers reach £1,060. Leading the heifers overall at £1,065 and £1,060 were 2yo Devons over from Tresco Estate. Nice young heifers from Mr. J. Santo of saw a yearling Simmental x pair hit £915.
