On average, more people have moved out of the area each year than have moved in. The result is that Huron County has seen a net loss of 875 people since 1996, or a decline of 1.5% of its 1996 population base. The most recent figures indicate our historic deficit (more people leaving the area than moving here) may be leveling off. This was particularly true among those aged 0-17 and 25-44 years. Both age groups posted gains for the first time in three years.
