A win would tie Federer with Ivan Lendl for second in the Open Era with 94 ATP World Tour titles. Only Jimmy Connors owns more with 109. Should he win his third Coupe Rogers title, Federer will secure a Top 2 seed at the US Open and control his own destiny in next week’s race for the No. 1 ranking. CITI OPEN: 4 AUGUST MEDIA NOTES Rock Creek Park Tennis Center | Washington, D.C., USA | 29 July – 4 August 2019 Draw: S-48, D-16 | Prize Money: $1,895,290 | Surface: Hard ATP Tour Tournament Media ATPTour.com citiopentennis.com Joshua Rey: [email protected] (ATP PR) Twitter: @ATP_Tour @CitiOpen Rosie Crews: [email protected] (Media Desk) Facebook: @ATPTour @CitiOpen TV & Radio: TennisTV.com NO. 3 MEDVEDEV, KYRGIOS SQUARE OFF IN CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH The Washington final is set as No. 3 seed Daniil Medvedev and World No. 52 Nick Kyrgios battle for their second title of 2019. Kyrgios advanced to the final after saving a match point in the third-set tiebreak to upset No. 1 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas Saturday night. The Aussie will now get a chance to claim his second ATP 500 title of 2019, after winning the trophy in Acapulco earlier this year. Acapulco and Washington have been the only events of 2019 in which Kyrgios has advanced past the Round of 16. To earn the title, he will have to pull another upset over World No. 10 Medvedev. The two met for the first time earlier this year, with Kyrgios taking the 1-0 advantage after winning in three sets on the clay courts of Rome. Medvedev's 2019 résumé includes the title in Sofia, breaking into the Top 10 for the first time, and claiming a victory over World No. 1 Novak Djokovic to reach the semi-finals at the ATP Masters 1000 Monte Carlo. Doubles team Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau are bidding for their 20th career doubles title together and second at Washington.

Nadal is the all-time leader with 34 ATP Masters 1000 titles, one more than Novak Djokovic’s 33, and will try to pick up his 35th trophy at this level at an event he has already won four times (2005, 2008, 2013, and 2018). He has also reached a record-breaking 51st ATP Masters 1000 final this week, moving one ahead of Roger Federer’s 50. Nadal did not have to play a semi-final match, as Gael Monfils withdrew from their Saturday night clash after suffering injury during the Frenchman’s lengthy Saturday afternoon quarter-final win over Roberto Bautista Agut. • To extend his lead in the all-time ATP Masters 1000 title standings, Nadal will have to overcome Medvedev, a player who will be contesting his first-ever ATP Masters 1000 final. However, despite that disparity in experience at this level, Medvedev has proven to be a formidable competitor on hardcourts.

A T S U y b s o t o h P Welcome to the USTA Pro Circuit n behalf of the United States Tennis Association, it is my pleasure to welcome you to this 2019 USTA Pro OCircuit event. This year, the USTA Pro Circuit celebrates its 40th anniversary, and since its inception in 1979, the Pro Circuit has been bringing the excitement of world-class professional tennis to dozens of local communities such as this one. In that time, the USTA Pro Circuit has grown from a handful of regional events and is now the largest professional developmental tennis circuit in the world, with more than 100 events held annually, offering some $4 million in prize money. These events not only provide a great stage for some of our sport’s top talents, but also provide a one-of-a-kind experience for thousands of tennis fans who otherwise might not have a chance to experience the pro sport firsthand. All of the players competing here this week are incredibly talented and eager to prove that they’ve got what it takes to take their games to the next level of the sport. Many do. In fact, Pro Circuit alumni have accounted for more than 50 Grand Slam singles titles, and 17 Pro Circuit veterans have risen to No. 1 in the world. For young players, the Pro Circuit is the ultimate proving ground, and for fans, it provides the opportunity to get a glimpse today at the stars of tomorrow. The USTA Pro Circuit showcases the very best of our sport, and that goes beyond the world-class tennis.
