This time, he will face No. 52 Nick Kyrgios, who has powered his way through four rounds behind a menacing service game that includes 73 aces. Kyrgios' road to the semi-final includes wins over qualifier Thai-Son Kwiatkowski, No. 11 Gilles Simon, Yoshihito Nishioka and lucky loser Norbert Gombos. Kyrgios is 3-1 against Top 10 opponents this year, and this is his first contest against the 20-year-old Greek. No. 1 seed Tsitsipas is contesting his seventh semi-final of 2019, his second at an ATP 500-level event. Lucky loser Peter Gojowczyk is into his sixth career ATP Tour semi-final. At a ranking of No. 122, the German is the lowest-ranked Citi Open semi-finalist since No. 128 Donald Young in 2011. Should he reach the final, he will become the lowest-ranked Citi Open finalist since No. 416 John Isner in 2007. But to get to the next stage, he will have to get through his toughest test this tournament as he faces No. 3 seed Daniil Medvedev. Gojowczyk has had an impressive performance this week, defeating three seeded players in No. 12 Alex de Minaur, No. 8 Milos Raonic, and No. 13 Kyle Edmund. Friday evening's semi-final meeting will be the first Tour-Level meeting between Gojowczyk and Medvedev. They met at a Challenger event in 2015 in Shanghai, which Medvedev won in three tight sets. The World No. 10 has only been broken once this week, putting him into his seventh semi-final of 2019. STATS OF THE DAY o Nick Kyrgios leads the remaining semi-finalists in aces with 73. Gojowczyk has 43, Medvedev has 37, and Tsitsipas has 12. o Daniil Medvedev has faced only 4 break points this week in three matches; he saved three of them. o Peter Gojowczyk spent 2 hours on court in his semi-final against Kyle Edmund, the longest time of the remaining semi-finalists. o Nick Kyrgios played in the shortest semi-final on court at 58 minutes against Norbert Gombos.
