To-date, the weighted average tourist satisfaction levels with tourism services in Qufu and Zoucheng have increased from the baseline value of 48% to 96%, significantly exceeding the end-of-project target of the PDO indicator. The Project has directly benefitted 2,349,000 people including nearly 58% female beneficiaries, which exceeded the end-of-project targets. Some 38 out of 41 cultural heritage sites have been conserved. The three remaining ones include: 1) two cultural heritage sites in Qufu with their equipment under purchase and are expected to be completed by the project's new closing date of June 30, 2017; and 2) the conservation works for the Old No.10 Mansion in Qufu were canceled due to unavailable land. A Level-2 Project Restructuring was approved by the Bank in December 2016 to ensure quality completion of on-going contracts and utilization of US$7 million in loan savings to support additional activities to scale up the project impacts. In the time remaining, Shandong needs to complete the following: (a) innovative project socio-economic impact assessment, whose findings would provide evidence-based contributions to the ICR and serve as a showcase to other cultural heritage and sustainable tourism projects in China and globally; (b) construction and handing over of resettlement houses in Qufu and Zoucheng; (c) revision of the Three Kong World Heritage Site Management Plan and submission to State Administration for Cultural Heritage; and (d) public outreach campaign at the provincial level is planned in May 2017 to disseminate project results. on tourist satisfaction levels and numbers direct beneficiaries have been significantly exceeded. The indicator on number of cultural heritage sites conserved has not yet met the end of project target. This is because 1) two cultural heritage sites in Qufu (i.e., western buildings in the Confucius Temple; the No.3 Hall and its wing houses in the central axis of Confucius Temple) are under conservation and are expected to be completed by the project closing date of June 30, 2017; 2) the conservation works for the Old No.10 Mansion in Qufu have been canceled due to unavailable land. China Correspondence: Pengfeng Xie ([email protected]) Background: Oral cancer is one of the most frequent solid cancers worldwide, and oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) constitutes approximately 90% of oral cancers. The dis- covery of reliable prognostic indicators would be a potential strategy for OSCC treatment. In the present study, we aim to explore the underlying mechanism by which microRNA-145 (miR-145) affected OSCC. Methods: Forty-eight patients diagnosed with OSCC were en- rolled to obtain the OSCC tissues and adjacent normal tissues. The targeting relationship between miR-145 and Homeobox A1 (HOXA1) was verified. In order to assess the effects of miR-145 in OSCC and the detailed regulatory mechanism, the SCC-9 cell line was adopted, in which expression of miR-145 and HOXA1 were altered by transfection. Then, a series of in vitro and in vivo experiments were performed to evaluate the cell viability, migration, in- vasion, and tumor growth. Results: miR-145 was poorly expressed and HOXA1 was highly expressed in OSCC.

Read Full License Page 1/16 Abstract The groundwater in the western part of Zoucheng is an important water source for domestic, industrial and agricultural use in Zoucheng. Understanding its hydrochemical characteristics and formation mechanism is of great signicance to the sustainable development and utilization of groundwater. In this study, 36 water samples were collected during wet and dry seasons, and the hydrochemical components K+, Na+, Ca2+, Mg2+, Cl-, 2- - - - SO4 , HCO3 , NO3 , F , TH and TDS were analyzed. Graphic method, correlation analysis and principal component analysis were applied to explore the hydrochemical characteristics and evolution mechanism of groundwater in the study area. The results show that: (1) The orders of the anion and 2+ + 2+ + - 2- - - - cation concentrations of karst groundwater and pore groundwater are Ca >Na >Mg >K and HCO3 >SO4 >Cl >NO3 >F .

Signature Bailan Qin Abstract For over two thousand years, Qufu – the hometown of Confucius – has maintained numerous heritage sites where ancient Chinese elites revered Confucius and studied Confucianism. The sites, known as sacred places, have been exerting significant impact on Chinese culture and society. However, since the early 1930s, many of these sites in non-protected areas have been forgotten and even transformed in such a way that their original heritage meanings have dissipated. Following President Xi Jinping’s visit to Qufu on 26 November 2013, Qufu has been attracting unprecedented attention in both mass media and the academia, contributing to China’s ongoing Confucian revival in the post-Mao era. Against this background, the thesis aims to explore Confucian discourses deeply rooted in traditions of Chinese studies to inform heritage researchers and practioners today of sacred heritage-making process theoretically and practically. The study has investigated how a widely known sacred place – Liangguan was produced, preserved, interpreted and transmitted as heritage by examining historical texts associated with Qufu.

Qufu and Zoucheng were the main cities of residence of Confucius and Mencius, two great philosophers of ancient China. The temple, cemetery and family mansion of Confucius in Qufu are inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. China has applied for inclusion of more cultural heritage sites in the two cities in the World Heritage List. These two county-level historic cities are located in Jining Municipality, a poor area in the south-west of Shandong Province. They have populations of 640,000 and 1,100,000, and GDP per capita of RMB 31,767 (US$ 4,637) and RMB 39,790 (US$5,809), respectively. The Province’s economic development is based on large enterprises in manufacturing industry.

JURY TRIAL DEMANDED VICE MEDIA LLC Defendant. Plaintiff BYD Company Ltd. (“BYD”) alleges: SUMMARY OF THE CASE 1. This is an action for defamation against VICE Media, which published at least two grossly defamatory statements of and concerning BYD that have caused substantial harm. 2. BYD (an acronym for “Build Your Dreams”), is a publicly-traded corporation based in China. BYD is one of the world’s largest producers and suppliers of electric vehicles including electric cars, buses, trucks and forklifts, as well as solar panels, lithium batteries, and protective masks and equipment, among many other innovative, important and useful products. Warren Buffet’s company, Berkshire Hathaway, is a major investor in BYD. BYD recently won a contract to supply the State of California with $1 billion worth of masks to protect its nurses, doctors, caregivers, first responders and other frontline personnel during and after the COVID-19 global pandemic. 3.     Special Feature s The Contemporary Revival of Confucianism e v i a Lijiao : The Return of t c n i e Ceremonies Honouring h p s c r Confucius in Mainland China e p SÉBASTIEN BILLIOUD AND JOËL THORAVAL Part of a larger project on the revival of Confucianism in Mainland China, this article explores the case of the Confucius ceremonies performed at the end of September each year in the city of Qufu, Shandong Province. In order to put things into perspective, it first traces the history of the cult at different periods of time. This is followed by a factual description of the events taking place during the so-called “Confucius festival,” which provides insight into the complexity of the issue and the variety of situations encountered.
