[Au(abr)] Archaeological periods represented: UD OASIS ID :albionar1-35955 Mid Bedfordshire (E.09.3102) SP92173930 AIP database ID: {3B436FB9-431E-4FCF-BFF1-CDB7FE4267DC} Parish: Hulcote and Salford Postal Code: MK17 8BU M1 BROUGHTON BROOK OUTFALL M1 Broughton Brook Outfall, Bedfordshire Turner, I Bedford : Albion Archaeology, 2007, Work undertaken by: Albion Archaeology A programme of archaeological observation, investigation and recording was undertaken by Albion Archaeology on engineering works at the M1 Broughton Brook outfall, Bedfordshire. The site lies within an area of archaeological potential, in the vicinity of cropmarks possibly dating to the later prehistoric or Roman periods. Other significant archaeological remains are also located in the surrounding landscape. The engineering works comprised the excavation of a foundation trench for a penstock, and the re-profiling of a length of drainage ditch. No archaeological features, deposits or artefact were revealed during the engineering works. Deep excavations were only carried out for the penstock foundation trench where only geological deposits were encountered. Any potential remains present in the vicinity of the drainage ditch were unlikely to be revealed due to the limited nature of the works in that area.

Kent County Council and Dover District Council are committed to finding ways to inform, consult and involve local residents. The Dover District Neighbourhood Forums are fundamental to our approach of involving local people in shaping the places in which they live and work. 2.     STATUTORY INSTRUMENTS 2001 No. 2570 CORONERS The Kent (Coroners’ Districts) Order 2001 Made ----- 16th July 2001 Laid before Parliament 18th July 2001 Coming into force - - 1st August 2001 Whereas the Council of the County of Kent have, in pursuance of section 4(2) of the Coroners Act 1988(a) and after due compliance with the provisions of the Coroners (Orders as to Districts) Rules 1927(b), submitted to the Secretary of State a draft Order providing for the alteration of the existing division of that county into coroners’ districts; Now, therefore, the Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 4(2) and after taking into consideration objections to the draft made in the prescribed manner and within the prescribed time of that Act, hereby makes the following Order: 1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Kent (Coroners’ Districts) Order 2001. (2) This Order shall come into force on 1st August 2001. (3) This Order shall not have effect in relation to any inquest begun before the day on which it comes into force or to any post-mortem examination which, before that day, a coroner has directed or requested a medical practitioner to make. 2.—(1) The existing coroners districts of Ashford and Shepway, East Kent and Thanet (as constituted by the Kent (Corners’ Districts) Order 1974(c) and amended by the Kent (Coroners’ Districts) (Amendment) Order 1996(d)) of the County of Kent shall be abolished. (2) From the area of the coroners’ districts referred to in paragraph (1) above, there shall be formed the coroners’ districts of Central and South East Kent and North East Kent which shall consist of the areas specified in column 2 of the Schedule to this Order.

    White Cliffs Ramblers – News, December 2020 2020 – THE YEAR OF… If twelve months ago someone had told me that we would be cancelling over five months’ worth of walks due to some unseen threat to our health I might have questioned their sanity. Yet as 2020 draws to a close, restrictions on our daily activities have become a fact of life. One thing that has not changed, are the benefits that walking brings to both our physical and emotional well-being. It is also evident that many of us have missed the social aspect of group walks. Therefore, it is to be hoped that the vaccines that are starting to become available enable us to enjoy the company of fellow walkers once again on the footpaths of Kent and beyond. So, on behalf of the White Cliffs Ramblers Committee we would wish you a peaceful Christmas and a healthy New Year. WCR COMMITTEE 2020 – 2021 At our AGM at the beginning of November, two long standing members of the Committee stood down from their respective roles. After almost thirty-two years, founding member Graham Smith relinquished his post as Press and Publicity Officer pending his move to Scotland. We wish Graham and Sarah every happiness in their new home. Graham has been replaced by Lee Pickup (pictured right), one of our walk leaders and a member of the Festival Committee. Also standing down as Group Treasurer was Margaret Milsted – Williamson, although she will continue to offer her experience to the Committee as a co-opted member. Taking over the responsibility of looking after the Group’s finances is John Shale (pictured left).
