Diamond July 3:45:00 The Q formed in Stroud, Gloucestershire, UK in 2006 and consists of Mike Veale, (guitar & vocals), Tim Vanstone, (guitar & vocals), Dean Gifford, (bass), Shane Blackshaw, (drums). We have a real passion for the music we write and play and love to perform for our audience. In November 2006 we released 2 demo tracks on Detour Records, “She” and “Through Your Eyes”. Both tracks were well received and reviewed by independent music press and this caught the attention of legendary producer of “The Jam”, Vic Coppersmith-Heaven. In January 2008, The Q went into the studio with Vic to re-record Through Your Eyes along with another two tracks, “Interlude” and “Big Issue” which were released as part of our debut EP, “ISSUES”, on Time For Action Records in Germany in November 2008. In 2011 The Q released their first full length album, Sonically Sound both physically, (through Time For Action Records), and digitally, (through Cargo Records). In January 2013 we headed back into a studio with Greg Haver, (The Manic Street Preachers, Catatonia, Bullet For My Valentine etc..), to record “Chemical Overload”, one of 2 EP’s planned for release in quick succession. “Chemical Overload” was released in 2013 as 4 independent digital singles before coming together on a limited edition vinyl EP released on the 9th December 2013. We take our inspiration from the same well of soles that the likes of “The Jam”, “Secret Affair” and even “The Who” did. If you see The Q live you’ll see a performance reminiscent of the bands behind our inspiration, powerful, energetic and memorable. Be part of THE NEW MODERN CULTURE - Join “THE Q” because the only place you wanna be right now is right at the front!! Identity 3:31:72 Hailing from Pete Quaife’s other home, Denmark, Copenhagen based RANT are honoured to be able to support the Pete Quaife Foundation by donating the track “Identity” and covering the infamous “Sunny Afternoon”. With squealing guitar solos, great riffing, a rock solid rhythm foundation and catchy vocal melodies, they aim to blow you away! Taking inspiration from the great bands of yesteryear, like The Kinks, Led Zeppelin and Guns’n’Roses and mixing it up with a more modern feeling and sound, inspired by the likes of Bon Jovi, Slash and Foo Fighters, you get an explosive cocktail of sing- along choruses, high speed rock’n’roll, and power ballads. Gotta Move 02:28:35 CD B 1. Scooter Girl 02:59:60 The Most style is based on the fashions of the Mod era, starting with the look and the music of 1960’s Carnaby Street, London. We will take you on the journey of Mod, recreating the authentic look and the sound of a 1960’s beat band, dressed in clothes and style of the era, playing hits from bands such as, The Kinks, Small Faces, The Who, Yardbirds, The Rolling Stones, The Birds, to name but a few, and with some The Kinks, Small Faces, The Who, Yardbirds, The Rolling Stones, The Birds, thrown in, all are played with the energy and enthusiasm as close to the originals. Then, we go to the ‘79’ Revival, with the look and music from The Jam, Undertones, and Secret Affair with the driving sound of Maximum Beat and Rhythm. The Most have had the pleasure of playing for many venues and Scooter Clubs and Rallies across the UK, including The Overlanders SC Northern Ireland and have played on Gateway Fm. Plus many clubs pubs and Festivals. With the authentic sound of Gateway Fm the beating of the drums, Boating Blazers, Ben Sherman’s, Bowling Shoes, and Tonic Suits, can only mean one thing, The Most taking you on a journey of Mod, from 1960’s to the ‘79’ Revival, with all members of ‘The Most’ having a wealth of musical experience giving you the best performance every time they play. Contact http://www.the-most.co.uk/ Steve Marriott Track CD A 4. Your Really Got Me 02:23:68 Outside of Mod circles it’s a little known fact that STEVE MARRIOTT once covered the Kinks song YOU REALLY GOT ME. This was four years after he appeared in the West End production of Oliver and one year before he found Pop Star fame with the Small Faces. The 45 was recorded for the American market only and it completely bombed which only went to make it all the more collectable. It’s fairly primitive but, as with every cover Steve ever performed, he made the song his own............. NICE!! yes of course. Dead End Street 03:30:38 CD B 6. A Song To Say Hello 03:22:38 After leaving the Kinks Pete Quaife moved to Denmark and formed a Duo with Danish singer/songwriter Michael Julin. They co- wrote many chart hitting songs together, and many of these have now been re-recorded for a brand new CD album release. The CD album will be released by Pete Quaife Foundation/PQFMusic. On this CD we are proud to donate two of the songs from the forthcoming album – a cover version of KinKs track “Dead End Street” and the song “Song To Say Hello” – written by Michael and Pete. There’s a Fire 02:32:11 Hugely melodic, solid songs somewhat reminiscent of The Jam, maintaining an early 80’s feel of the mod/punk era. Formed in 2003 in the market town of ELY Cambridgeshire, The Loop are a no frills guitar based power trio, playing gutsy powerful self-penned songs but with a simplistic “in yer face” approach. Vocals and guitar powered by Martin Holt, Darren Day keeping the beat and providing the humour and new recruit Ian Duthie on bass, makes up the band. From the early days 2 albums were produced, debut album “Game Over” and the second album “Shame”, both self- produced and engineered, iTunes has availability on these.

It might equally apply to an individual- to Eric Clapton, for example, The Beatles are the saints of the 1960s, and George Harrison an especially "heavy person". This year, heavy people flock together. Clapton and Steve Winwood join up in Blind Faith. Steve Marriott and Pete Frampton meet in Humble Pie. Crosby, Stills and Nash admit a new member, Neil Young. Supergroups, or more informal supersessions, serve as musical summit meetings for those who are reluctant to have theirwork tied down by the now antiquated notion of the "group". Trouble of one kind or another this year awaits the leading examples of this classic formation. Our cover stars The Rolling Stones this year part company with founder member Brian Jones. The Beatles, too, are changing - how, John Lennon wonders, can the group hope to contain three contributing writers? The Beatles diversification has become problematic.

This is potentially a huge topic, so I have chosen to limit the field of the major music of investigation to the music being created, recorded and performed by the most significant British pop and initiatives in recent rock bands from this era. I make regular reference to a relatively small collection of songs that exemplify all the years. features under discussion. This is designed to help teachers and students overcome the challenges of having to source a large amount of reference material. This resource addresses four questions: Why was there such an explosion of musical creativity and development at this time? What were the key influences shaping the development of this music? What are the key musical features of this music? How might we use these musical ideas in classroom activities at KS3/4? Overall aim The overall aim of the resource is twofold. It aims to provide a series of activities that will give students composition frameworks, while at the same time learning about the style and the musical conventions of music from this era. It's time to get going again. We're about to begin a journey that will take us from the infinitesimal to the infinite, from the dawn of time to the distant future. We'll explore galaxies and suns and worlds, surf the gravity waves of space-time, encounter beings that live in fire and ice, explore the planets of stars that never die, discover atoms as massive as suns and universes smaller than atoms. Cosmos is also a story about us. It's the saga of how wandering bands of hunters and gatherers found their way to the stars, one adventure with many heroes.

Welcome to the March edition of Slap. I was hoping to say ‘Spring is in the air’ but I’ve just seen the weather forecast and it’s far from Spring-like. It really feels like it’s been a long winter of discontent with news of more venue closures almost weekly. The latest to go at the end of February was the Pig and Drum in Worcester which has been prominent on the local music seen for a few years now. Thanks to the efforts of landlady Rachel Cale bands from out of town loved playing there. We don’t yet know the long term fate of the Boar’s Mar 2017 Head in Kidderminster since Sid & Sandra announced they’re moving on in the summer, But I don’t think it’ll be the last to go. With business rates rises due very soon and so many people feeling the pinch, these places are really suffering. There are SLAP MAGAZINE rumours of other venues around the counties who may also be Unit 3a, Lowesmoor Wharf, shutting their doors soon. And It’s not just the music scene that Worcester WR1 2RS suffers either, many of these spaces are now multi functional art Telephone: 01905 26660 spaces as well as platforms for comedy, spoken word and poetry.
