Midvaal's population is far smaller than Emfuleni's. In the hypothetical new municipality formed by the merger, the DA's share of the vote would drop to just 28%. The case to be made for the creation of a metro (merger or otherwise) is a lot harder than for other re-demarcations. Doulos celebrates at Montagues Montagues is grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the Doulos Care Centre in Glendonald by hosting their 10th anni- versary celebration. After Mayor Timothy Nast had opened the Winterfest on Friday 28 June the party started with a Winter White evening with snow machine and VCR radio DJ Warren Pelser who rocked the house. Over 180 people danced the night away. Warren assures us he will be back as he loves the Henley crowd. Saturday started early with a variety of stalls selling delights from donuts to biltong, soaps, salts, children's clothing, and many more. The boerewors competition was won by Hennie of Corgi Butchery, which astounded lovers of Vasco's wors because Carlos only came fourth. The entertainer for the day was singer Heather from Botswana. The entrants of the Mr and Miss Winterfest competition were all photographed by Yvonne Muller of Vivid Moments. The highlight on Sunday was the Potjiekos Competition. Over 450 people attended over the two days. It was manned by Doulos volunteers and Montague staff. Melody Barber of Be Different organised the whole event. CPF, Netcare 911, car marshalls: all did an excellent job. We hope they bring it back to Henley next year. – Moira Bester
