Domenico Caliandro è nato a Ceglie Messapica, diocesi di Oria e provincia di Brindisi (Italia) il 5 settembre 1947. Ha frequentato il ginnasio nel Seminario diocesano di Oria, il Liceo nel Seminario regionale di Molfetta e gli studi filosofici e teologici nel Seminario Romano Maggiore. Ha conseguito la Licenza in Teologia Morale nella Pontificia Accademia Alfonsiana, il Dottorato in Teologia Dommatica nella Pontificia Università Lateranense e la laurea in Filosofia presso l’Università Statale di Bari. 2 Ordinato sacerdote il 18 marzo 1971, è stato: Educatore nel Pontificio Seminario Romano Maggiore dal 1971 al 1974; Vice Rettore e poi Direttore Spirituale nel Seminario diocesano dal 1975 al 1978; Parroco di S. Vito De Grisantis, del clero dell’arcidiocesi di Lecce, finora Vicario Episcopale per il Laicato e Parroco della Parrocchia S. Maria delle Grazie in S. Rosa da Lima. Rev.do Mons. Vito De Grisantis Mons. De Grisantis è nato a Lecce il 20 agosto 1941. Ha compiuto gli studi filosofici e teologici nel Seminario Regionale di Molfetta; licenziato in Teologia presso la Pontificia Università Lateranense e, in seguito, nella medesima Pontificia Università ha conseguito il Dottorato di ricerca con la specializzazione in Teologia del Matrimonio e della Famiglia. Ordinato Presbitero il 27 giugno 1965, per l’Arcidiocesi di Lecce, ha espletato i seguenti incarichi: Segretario dell’Ufficio Amministrativo Diocesano dal 1965 al 1972; Professore nel Seminario Vescovile dal 1965 al 1976; Padre Spirituale nel Seminario Vescovile dal 1966 al 1968; Vice Assistente Diocesano della GIAC dal 1966 al 1970; Vicario Cooperatore nella Parrocchia di S. Maria delle Grazie in S. Rosa Da Lima. È stato Vicario Economo della medesima Parrocchia dal 1974 al 1975; Parroco nella suddetta Parrocchia dal 1° ottobre 1975; Vicario Foraneo in Lecce Nord dal 1984 al 1987. Dal novembre 1984 all’agosto 1986 ha fatto una esperienza di vita religiosa presso la Comunità Benedettina dell’abbazia di Noci. Inoltre è stato Direttore dell’Ufficio Diocesano di Pastorale Familiare dal 1989; Vicario Foraneo della città di Lecce dal 1993 al 1997. Nominato Cappellano di Sua Santità il 27 maggio 1993 e dal 1996 è Vicario Episcopale per il Laicato. [01086-01.01] ● NOMINA DELL’AUSILIARE DI TELŠIAI (LITUANIA) Il Santo Padre ha nominato Ausiliare della diocesi di Telšiai (Lituania) il Rev.do Mons. Jonas Kauneckas, Padre Spirituale del Seminario Maggiore di Telšiai, assegnandogli la sede titolare vescovile di Forconio. Mons. Jonas Kauneckas Il Rev.do Mons. Jonas Kauneckas è nato il 6 giugno 1938 a Krinčinas, diocesi di Paneveys. Dopo aver terminato la scuola media a Pasvalys, ha frequentato la scuola tecnica a Paneveys. Ha compiuto gli studi teologici nel Seminario Interdiocesano di Kaunas. Ordinato sacerdote il 22 maggio 1977 e incardinato nella diocesi di Telšiai, dal 1977 al 1983 è stato Vicario della Cattedrale di Telšiai, e dal 1983 al 1990 Parroco di Skaudvile. Dal 1990 al 1993 è stato Vice-Rettore e Professore del Seminario di Telšiai ed in seguito è diventato Padre Spirituale del medesimo, incarico che ricopre attualmente. Mons. Kauneckas è anche consultore e membro del 3 consiglio presbiterale, e padre spirituale per le organizzazioni giovanili cattoliche della diocesi di Telšiai. [01088-01.01] ● NOMINA DI AUSILIARE DI MARIBOR (SLOVENIA) Il Santo Padre ha nominato Vescovo Ausiliare della Diocesi di Maribor (Slovenia), il Rev. P. Anton Stres, CM, membro della Congregazione della Missione, finora decano della Facoltà teologica di Ljubljana, assegnandogli la sede titolare vescovile di Ptuj. Rev. P. Anton Stres Il Rev. P. Anton Stres è nato il 15 dicembre 1942 a Donacka gora (Maribor). Dopo aver frequentato le scuole medie e superiori a Zagabria (1957-62), ha seguito i corsi di filosofia e teologia presso la Facoltà teologica di Ljubljana (1962-66) e presso l’Istituto Cattolico di Parigi (1966-69). Si è laureato prima in teologia a Ljubljana (1974) e poi in filosofia a Parigi (1984). Èentrato nella Congregazione della Missione il 22 agosto 1960, ha emesso i voti il 28 marzo 1967 ed ha ricevuto l’ordinazione sacerdotale il 20 aprile 1968. In campo accademico, ha iniziato come assistente nel 1972 ed è divenuto professore ordinario nel 1990 della Facoltà teologica di Ljubljana. È stato anche Direttore dell’Istituto di filosofia e di etica sociale, Vice-decano ed attualmente Decano della facoltà teologica. Nella Congregazione della Missione ha esercitato numerosi incarichi: Direttore degli studenti (1972-78; 1980-84; 1987-88); Superiore della Casa a Smartno ob Savi (1985-87); Superiore della Casa a Ljubljana (1990-97); Visitatore provinciale della Jugoslavia (1988-92) e della Slovenia (1992-97). Inoltre, dirige la Commissione della Giustizia e della Pace della Conferenza Episcopale slovena (dal 1985); è Consultore del Pontificio Consiglio della Giustizia e della Pace (dal 1994); lavora per la Commissione episcopale per i negoziati con il Governo sloveno ed ha partecipato al Consiglio per la protezione dei diritti umani del parlamento sloveno. Ha pubblicato numerosi articoli e libri. Conosce lo sloveno, l’italiano, il tedesco, il francese, l’inglese, lo spagnolo, il polacco e il serbo-croato. Andrej Glavan, del clero della medesima Arcidiocesi, finora Parroco di Stara Loka, assegnandogli la sede titolare vescovile di Musti di Numidia. Rev.do Mons. Andrej Glavan Il Rev.do Sac. Andrej Glavan è nato il 14 ottobre 1943 a Soteska presso Novo Mesto (Ljubljana). Prima della formazione sacerdotale, Mons. Glavan ha frequentato la Facoltà di Scienze Nautrali e Tecnologia di Ljubljana, diplomandosi Ingegnere chimico. È entrato in Seminario, dal 1967 al 1973 ha compiuto gli studi teologici presso la Facoltà teologica di Ljubljana. Èstato ordinato sacerdote il 29 giugno 1972. 4 Successivamente ha svolto i seguenti ministeri: Vice-parroco a Škofja Loka (1972-1974); parroco a Škofja Loka (1974-1981); Parroco a Stara Loka (dal 1981); Decano del decanato di Škofja Loka (1980-1991). Dal 1991 è Arcidiacono della Carniola superiore. È anche membro del Consiglio Presbiteriale. Conosce lo sloveno, il serbo-croato, il tedesco e l’italiano. Jurij Bizjak, del clero della medesima diocesi, finora direttore spirituale al Seminario maggiore di Ljubljana, assegnandogli la sede titolare vescovile di Gergi. Rev. Mons. Jurij Bizjak Il Rev.do Sac. Jurji è nato il 22 febbraio 1947 a Col (Koper). Èstato ordinato sacerdote i 29 giugno 1971 a Log pri Vipavi (Koper). Dopo l’ordinazione ha svolto i seguenti ministeri: Vice-parroco a Seana (1971-1972); Vice- parroco a Ilirska Bistrica (1972-1975); Amministratore parrocchiale a Planina (1975-1976); Direttore spirituale del Seminario Minore di Vipava e Professore di Sacra Scrittura presso la Facoltà teologica di Ljubljana (1983-1997). Dal 1997 è Direttore spirituale del Seminario maggiore di Ljubljana. Dal 1976 al 1983 ha compiuto gli studi a Roma presso la Pontificia Università Gregoriana, dove ha ottenuto la Licenza in Teologia biblica.     Religion, State & Society, Vo!. 28, No. 3, 2000 Editorial In her article in this issue of Religion, State & Society Janice Broun focuses on a church which has been disabled by its close identification with the secular power. Bulgaria achieved its independence in 1878. The church was granted state subsidies, on which it has in fact remained dependent throughout modern Bulgarian history, and Orthodoxy was declared the official religion of the state. The whole period between independence and the communist takeover was marked by bitter antago­ nisms, with church leaders defending church autonomy as well as involving them­ selves in national politics. However, the result was a victory for the secular state. The politicisation of the church hierarchy is widely seen as a factor causing a decline in religious faith and observance among the popUlation. The communists brought church-state relations in Bulgaria to a logical conclusion. The church was named as the 'traditional church of the Bulgarian people' in the 1949 law on confessions, and the patriarchate was restored in 1953. Communist leaders regularly paid tribute to the key role of the church in preserving Bulgarian identity through centuries of tribulation. At the same time the church was transformed into an obedient and useful tool in the hands of the government, which consolidated its hold with persecution and the use of divide-and-rule tactics. This state of affairs mani­ fested its harmful consequences as soon as communism came to an end. The Bulgarian Orthodox Church suffered a major schism in 1992; the original issue was the validity of the election of the patriarch in the communist period.

António Luciano dos Santos Costa, of the clergy of the diocese of Guarda, and currently episcopal vicar for the clergy. Rev. Can. António Luciano dos Santos Costa The Rev. Can. António Luciano dos Santos Costa was born on 3 May 1952 in Corgas, municipality of Seia, in the diocese of Guarda. He attended the São Romão College in Seia and then the School of Nursing in Coimbra, obtaining a diploma in professional nursing. He then practised as a nurse in the University Hospital of Coimbra, at the same time attending the Institute for Theological Studies in Coimbra, and then entering the Major Seminary of Guarda (1981-1985). He obtained a licentiate in moral theology from the Alphonsianum Academy, Rome (1987-1990). He was ordained a priest for the diocese of Guarda on 29 June 1985. As a priest he has held the following offices: head of the Pre-Seminary and director of the Secretariat for Youth Education (1985-1987); professor of moral theology at the Viseu Institute of Theology (1995-2013); and professor of Ethics at the Guarda School of Nursing.     Janez Juhant Theology in Slovenia 1. Basic facts: 1 Population (number, ethnic differentiation) Slovenia is the most western nation among the Slavic nations and located at the important geographical crossing between Romanic, Slavic and German nations. Slovenes have thus had to provide for their survival under the pressure of Germans and Romans. Christianity came to Slovenia from Aquilea and Salzburg through Irish-Scottish monks. The Germans in particular hindered the autonomy of the Slovene people and thus prevented the missionary work of Cyril and Methodius, imprisoning Methodius in Ellwangen (Germany), because they sought to exploit the missionary work for imperial purposes. As a result, the Slovene people had to establish their political framework within the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. The time of national growth deepened the pressure of the dominant nations of Germany and Austria on other nations. Slovenes, Croats, Serbs in the South and the Czechs and Slovaks in the East decided during the First World War to separate themselves form the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. The Slovene politicians Anton Korošec (1872-1940) and Janez Evangelist Krek (1865-1917) worked toward the separation of these nations and their subsequent reunion with the Serbian Monarchy in the Monarchy of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes, also known as the First Yugoslavia (1918). The new state could not solve the problem of nationalism and the leading nation, Serbia, oppressed the other nations so that the state could fall. Around this time, the king was assassinated and the Second World War started. The communist revolution occurred during the war. There are about 46,000 victims of the revolution in Slovenia.

    289 Ivan Janez Štuhec Social Thought and its Infuence in Slovenia 1 Social Thought and Its Infuence in Slovenia Ivan Janez Štuhec Zusammenfassung In Slowenien ist der christlich- soziale Gedanke seit dem Ende des neunzehnten Jahr- hunderts bis heute mit sehr unterschiedlicher Intensität präsent. Hinsichtlich der 45-jäh- rigen Herrschaft des kommunistischen totalitären Systems, das den christlich- sozialen Gedanken aus der Öfentlichkeit verdrängte, kam es nach den Gesellschaftsverände- rungen im Jahr 1990 zu einer Wiederbelebung in Theorie und Praxis. In den letzten fünf- undzwanzig Jahren schwankt seine Präsenz im öfentlichen und akademischen Leben. Sowohl materielle Voraussetzungen als auch personelle Bedingungen für sozialethische Forschung und die Verbreitung der Sozialethik in der gesellschaftlichen Praxis sind nicht günstig. Introduction Christian Social Thought has been present in Slovenia from the end of the 19th century until today with difering intensity. While Christian Social Thought was excluded from the public sphere during the 45 year dominion of the totalitarian communist system, it was revitalised after the system change in 1990 in theory and practice. Its public and academic presence swayed during the last 25 years. Material as well as personal resources are not convenient to intensify social ethical research and spread Christian social ethics in social practice. Nonetheless, there is a need for social ethical refection in Slovenian society concerning past and present social challenges in Slovenia, Europe and around the globe. In Slovenia, social thought has been present since the end of the 19th century or since Rerum Novarum (RN, 1891).

Moreover, His Holiness has named Fr. Jorge García Isaza, C.M. as the first Apostolic Vicar of Tierradentro (Colombia), assigning him the Episcopal See of Budua. Until now, Fr.
