BIOGRAFIJA KANDIDATA Nena Vidanović rođena je 21. jula 1989. godine u Pirotu. 2004. godine završava osnovnu školu ,,Vuk Karadzić“ u Pirotu sa odličnim uspehom. 2008. godine završava Gimnaziju u Pirotu, prirodno-matematički smer, sa odličnim uspehom. Po završetku Gimnazije, 2008. godine, upisuje osnovne akademske studije na Prirodno-matematičkom fakultetu Univerziteta u Nišu, na Departmanu za biologiju i ekologiju. Osnovne akademske studije završava 2011. godine sa diplomom osnovnih studija i zvanjem ,,biolog“. Iste godine upisuje master akademske studije na Departmanu za biologiju i ekologiju Prirodno- matematičkog fakulteta u Nišu, smer Ekologija i zaštita prirode. Master akademske studije završava 2013. godine. SAŽETAK Vrste roda Salvia (kadulja) zbog svoje morfološke raznolikosti i širokih mogućnosti primene od velikog su značaja u botanici, farmaciji, zvaničnoj i narodnoj medicini i agronomiji. Zbog toga je neophodno njihovo bolje upoznavanje. U ovom radu analizirane su morfološke karakteristike lista vrsta roda Salvia L. sa područja jugoistočne Srbije: Salvia officinalis L., Salvia nemorosa L., Salvia austriaca Jacq. Cilj ovog rada je analiza variranja površinskih struktura lista. Pomoću svetlosne mikroskopije analizirane su sledeće osobine epidermisa lista: oblik i veličina ćelija epidermisa lica i naličja lista, broj, veličina i površina stoma, distribucija i broj žlezdanih i nežlezdanih dlaka. Dobijeni rezultati su statistički obrađeni. Rezultati ispitivanja ukazuju na postojanje razlika u svim ispitivanim karakterima analiziranih vrsta. ABSTRACT Species of the genus Salvia (sage) are of great importance in botany, pharmacy, official and folk medicine and agriculture because of its morphological diversity and wide range of applications. Therefore, it needs more research for their better understanding. In this paper we analyzed the morphological characteristics of the leaves of the genus Salvia L. from south-east Serbia: Salvia officinalis L., Salvia nemorosa L., Salvia austriaca Jacq. The aim of this study is to analyze the rate of variation of surface structures. Characteristics of leaf epidermis were analyzed with light microscopy: the shape and size of epidermal cells of face and surface, the number and size of stomata, distribution and number of glandular and non- glandular hairs. The results were statistically analyzed. The results indicate the existence of differences in all studied characters of the analyzed species. UVOD 1.1. Porodica Lamiaceae Ova široko rasprostranjena porodica sadrži biljke različitih životnih formi. Većina poznatih vrsta su zeljaste biljke, često sa oštrim stabljikama, ali postoje i rodovi koji su žbunasti (Lavandula, Rosmarinus). Mnoge vrste se javljaju u sušnim staništima i imaju kserofilne osobine, ali nekoliko rodova koji se javljaju u močvarnim mestima (Disophilla, Menta, Scutellaria) imaju dobro razvijene intercelulare u kori mladih stabljika. Zbog karakteristično raspoređenog kolenhima, stabljike ovih biljaka su na poprečnom preseku četvorouglaste. Mnoge vrste su gusto pokrivene raznovrsnim dlakama, žlezdanim i nežlezdanim. Jedan od najkarakterističnijih tipova dlaka jesu kratke, prave žlezdane dlake sa glavama, sastavljene od 1-1 ili više ćelija. One luče mirišljava ulja prijatnog mirisa. Takva su ulja lavande, ruzmarina, timijana, nane... Nežlezdane dlake su takođe česte, a mogu biti nerazgranate, resaste ili razgranate. Listovi su izobilateralalni ili dorzoventralni, i, kod nekih vrsta, ivice listova su jako uvijene. Stome se javljaju na jednoj ili obe površine, i obično su diacitnog tipa, ili se javljaju u kombinaciji sa drugim tipovima stoma kao što je anomocitni tip. (Metcalfe i Chalk 1950). 1.2. T aksonomske karakteristike i specifičnosti roda Salvia L. Rod Salvia predstavlja najbrojniji rod iz porodice usnatica (Lamiaceae) sa oko 800 vrsta jednogodišnjih, višegodišnjih, zeljastih, polužbunastih i žbunastih vrsta. Naziv Salvia potiče od latinske reči salvere što znači spasiti, spasavati, zbog lekovitih svojstava najpoznatije vrste Salvia officinalis. Vrste ovog roda su poznate po svojoj lekovitosti i eteričnim uljima koja proizvode neke vrste. Prirodni areal roda obuhvata Evropu, Aziju, Severnu i Južnu Ameriku. Postoje tri centra raznovrsnosti: Južna i Centralna Amerika (sa oko 500 vrsta); Centralna Azija i Mediteran (oko 250 vrsta) i Istočna Azija (90 vrsta) (Walker i sar. 2004). - 1 - Nena Vidanović Uporedna analiza epidermisa lista vrsta roda Salvia L. Vrste roda Salvia su jednogodišnje, dvogodišnje ili višegodišnje zeljaste i drvenaste vrste, četvrtastog stabla. Listovi su prosti, celi, ređe perasto deljeni. Brakteje se razlikuju od srednjih listova, kod nekih vrsta su upadljivo obojene. Zigomorfni cvetovi su grupisani u dihazijume, a oni u složene metličaste ili klasolike cvasti. Čašica je od 5 sraslih listića, dvousnata sa 3 zupca na gornjoj i 2 na donjoj usni. Krunica je simpetalna, izrazito dvousnata, sa gornjom usnom koja je prava ili zakrivljena

(Lamiaceae) is a perennial aromatic herb, which is widespread in the high altitude areas of the central and eastern parts of South Africa and also occurs in southwest Botswana and central Namibia. It is closely related to Salvia runcinata L. f. and Salvia repens Burch, ex Benth., with which it forms a species complex. The most recent revision of southern African Salvia species is that by Codd (1985). In this revision, the most important characters used in delimiting the three taxa were corolla size, calyx size and trichome density. As a result of intergrading morphological characters, the specific limits between the three taxa are not clear and positive identification of typical material is often difficult. Taxonomic delimitation through use of chemical characters was therefore the principle objective of this study. The taxa represented in this species complex are known in folk medicine and plant extracts have been used in the treatment of urticaria, body sores, and stomach ailments and as a disinfectant.

Riassunto Trenta specie del genere Salvia, facenti parte di una collezione dell’Orto Botanico di Pisa, sono state analizzate in vivo tramite la tecnica della Head-Space Solid Phase Micro-Extraction (HS- SPME) abbinata alla GC-MS (gas-cromatografia accoppiata alla spettrometria di massa). Sono stati identificati oltre 300 composti organici volatili (VOC). Il profilo di emissione di tali composti è stato sottoposto ad analisi statistica mediante il clustering gerarchico, effettuato sia sui singoli VOC, sia sulle classi chimiche dei composti. È emersa una discreta correlazione tra le similitudini rilevate dal clustering gerarchico e la provenienza geografica delle specie raccolte. In ragione dell’habitat originario delle diverse specie, infatti, il profilo di emissione in vivo dei VOC muta: piante provenienti da una stessa area geografica tendono ad avere pattern di emissione simili tra loro, sia in termini di prevalenza di composti individuali sia di classi chimiche. Non ho rintracciato nella letteratura studi effettuati su un numero così esteso di Salvie, né studi sulle emissioni volatili spontanee da parte di campioni analizzati in vivo, non sottoposti ad alcun trattamento di essiccamento, macinazione o distillazione. 1.     1 Chapter 4 Phytomorph and Geomorph Identification © This Chapter is based on three published works: (1) a paper by Hugh O Neall (1944) that identifies two New World plants (sunflower and chili peppers) in the Voynich manuscript; (2) a paper of Tucker and Talbert (2013) which identified 39 plants in the Voynich as indigenous to the New World; (3) a paper by Tucker and Janick (2016) which extended the list to 59 species. Although many of the illustrations of the Voynich Codex on first blush could be considered bizarre or whimsical (See Figure in Chapter 14) most contain morphological structures which permit botanical identification. Many enthusiasts have attempted to analyze the plants of the Voynich Codex, but few are knowledgeable plant taxonomists or botanists, despite their large web presence. Most of the plant identification has been predicated on the conclusion that the Voynich is a 15th century European manuscript (Friedman 1962). The principal reports in a web report by non botanists Edith and Erica Sherwood (http:www.edithsherwood.comn/coyhnich_botanical_plants) who identifies he plants as Mediterranean based on their premise that Voynich is a 15th century Italian manuscript and claims to find signature of Leonardo da Vinci in voynich drawings. We respectfully disagree with both assertions. The first exception to the conclusion that the Voynich plants were European is a short remarkable 1944 paper in Speculum (a refereed journal of the Medieval Academy of America) by the distinguished plant taxonomist, the Rev./Dr. Hugh O’Neill (1894–1969), former Director of the Herbarium (official acronym LCU) at the Catholic University of America (CUA) in Washington, D.C.

Their ability to produce aromatic volatile oils has made them valuable sources of materials in the cosmetic, culinary, and pharmaceutical industries. A thorough account of the taxonomic diversity, chemistry and ethnobotany is lacking for southern African Lamiaceae, which feature some of the region’s most notable medicinal and edible plant species. We provide a comprehensive insight into the Lamiaceae flora of southern Africa, comprising 297 species in 42 genera, 105 of which are endemic to the subcontinent. We further explore the medicinal and traditional uses, where all genera with documented uses are covered for the region. A broad review of the chemistry of southern African Lamiaceae is presented, noting that only 101 species (34%) have been investigated chemically (either their volatile oils or phytochemical characterization of secondary metabolites), thus presenting many and varied opportunities for further studies.
