    LOK SABHA ___ SYNOPSIS OF DEBATES (Proceedings other than Questions & Answers) ______ Thursday, February 8, 2018/Magha 19, 1939 (Saka) ______ OBITUARY REFERENCES HON'BLE SPEAKER: Hon'ble Members, I have to inform the House about the sad demise of two former Members, namely, Shri Narsingh Narain Pandey and Shri Raghunath Jha. Shri Narsingh Narain Pandey was a Member of the 5th Lok Sabha representing the Gorakhpur Parliamentary Constituency of Uttar Pradesh. He was also a Member of the Rajya Sabha from 1980 to 1982. He was a Member of the Committee on Absence of Members from Sittings of the House. Earlier, Shri Pandey was a Member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly from 1962 to 1967. Shri Narsingh Narain Pandey passed away on 8 January, 2018 in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh at the age of 88. Shri Raghunath Jha was a Member of the 13th and 14th Lok Sabhas representing the Gopalganj and Bettiah Parliamentary Constituencies of Bihar. Shri Jha was Union Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises from April, 2008 to May, 2009. He was a Member of the Committee on Agriculture; Committee on Ethics; Committee on Home Affairs Railway Convention Committee; House Committee and also the Public Accounts Committee. Shri Jha was a Member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly from 1972 to 1998. He also served as Minister in the Government of Bihar. Shri Raghunath Jha passed away on 15 January, 2018 in New Delhi at the age of 78. We deeply mourn the loss of our two former colleagues. I am sure the House would join me in conveying our condolences to the bereaved families.

    History of Indian Railways in Orissa (a lot of it borrowed from the SER web pages and rest compiled by Chitta Baral, [email protected]) 1887 The Bengal Nagpur Railway was formed. 6th Oct 1890 The East Coast Railway was inaugurated. 1893 to 1896 800 miles of East Coast Railway line was built and opened for traffic. 1893 to 1896 East Coast Railway built some of the largest bridges viz. Brahmani, Mahanadi, Katjuri, Kuakhai and Birupa during the period. 1st Feb 1897 Khurda Road-Puri (27 miles) section was opened for traffic. 1898-99 Kharagpur-Cuttack was opened for traffic. 1st Jan 1899 BNR’s Line to Cuttack was opened. March 1901 The construction of a bridge on River Mahanadi near Cuttack was completed. 1911 A 40 mile branch line from Tatanagar to Gurumahisarani where plenty of iron ores are available was opened for traffic. 1922 BNR Hotel at Puri was established 1922 Tatanagar-Gurumahisani line was extended upto Badampahar. Feb 1925 Extension to Gua was completed. 1929-31 Parlakmedi-Gunupur section was opened in two portions in 1929 and 1931. 1st Oct 1944 The management of Bengal Nagpur Railway was taken by Government of India. 1955 B N R Emerged as South Eastern Railway. 1960 The Dandakaranya-Bolangir-Kiriburu Railway Project. [Kottavalasa- Koraput-Jeypore-Kirandul Construction (Dandakaranya Project), Titlagarh-Bolangir-Jharsuguda Project and Rourkela-Kiriburu Project; all these 3 projects put together were popularly known as DBK Project - Dandakaranya-Bolangir-Kiriburu Project.] 31st Jan 1962 Foundation stone of Cuttack-Paradip line was laid by the then Prime Minister, Late Jawarlal Nehru.

In this connection GRPS/TIG Regd. a case Vide No-08/2020 dated 20.02.202 U/S-379 IPC against unknown culprit. On 20.20.2020, report upon the case officer and staff of RPF/Post/Kantabhanji along with GRPS/KBJ, in presence of complainant checked CCTV footage and suspected one person from CCTV footage/video for applying seems to be a new modus operandi with the shade of hand plastic bag committed theft of said mobile phone from shirt pocket of the complainant. In the night of 20.02.2020 the above said officers and staffs conducted night checking at Kantabanji Railway Station and could able to apprehend the same person who was identified in CCTV footage along with his associate.
