This works against delivering the integrated, sustainable and inclusive transport favoured by the Scottish Government (and Scottish Association for Public Transport). A “Transport for a Greater Glasgow” planning and delivery group bringing together the main bus, subway and rail organisations, and council planners, must be established if good progress is to be made. Otherwise Glasgow’s connectivity and economic competitiveness will be eclipsed by other city regions where effective transport planning and delivery organisations have been set up. Collective Architecture (PP13) Crossrail is a vital proposed development necessary for the future prosperity of a large area of Scotland to the South and West of Glasgow. -

Transport Strategic Plan Version 1 September 2010 Foreword The Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games will be one of the largest international multi-sporting events that Scotland has ever hosted. Approximately 6500 athletes and team officials from the 71 competing nations and territories of the Commonwealth as well as members of the Commonwealth Games Family, the media and spectators will all be welcomed to Glasgow and other select sites throughout Scotland for 11 exciting days of sport competition and celebration. A crucial element to any successful major games is transportation and the ability to seamlessly facilitate the connectivity between the selected sites for the various client groups attending. This document provides the initial information on the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games strategy for transport, including what we as the Organising Committee aim to achieve, who we are looking to involve to successfully deliver our obligations and how we approach managing our objectives. Our aim is for athletes, spectators and other visitors to come to Glasgow and Scotland and see the city and the nation at its best during these Games. With existing facilities having been upgraded, new venues built and significant infrastructure improvements all completed well in advance of the Games, we will aspire to have transport in and around the Games sites that is safe, secure, reliable and accessible. As we get closer to the Games we plan to publish two further updated editions of the Transport Strategic Plan. Future editions will include: changes incorporated during the various consultation processes; refined information on transport proposals; and emerging best practice following the Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games, London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and other major games. -

Transport and Technology
Transport and Technology Collections 1 Introduction The Transport and Technology Collections reflect the leading role played by Glasgow and the West of Scotland in advances made in scientific enquiry and industrial production. The technology collections were first developed for the opening of the City Industrial Museum in 1870. This was intended to highlight the output of Glasgow’s industries and included samples and models from the important chemical, textile, locomotive and shipbuilding firms in the area. There were also examples of innovations in the making of optical and scientific instruments and communications technology. The museum displayed Glasgow’s civic pride in its scientific and industrial achievements and provided a prestigious front window for its products. It also played an important didactic role in teaching Glasgow’s young citizens about engineering and technology. Many of the collections were loaned and often replaced by newer more impressive exhibits. Even items formally acquired into this collection were regarded with the same spirit of renewal and were often discarded in favour of more representative examples of modern industry. Although much has been lost there is still much of great interest that has survived from the early days of the museum. This is partly as a result of industrial failure when loaned material from failed companies was retained and eventually assimilated into the core collections. Such a direct relationship between the city’s industries and the museum collections gives them an added degree of significance. This is particularly true of the outstanding ship and marine engineering models. The Clyde was at the forefront of revolutionary change in the shipbuilding industry so not only is the collection a truly representative sample of the Clyde’s output, it also represents an important period of ship design and building that is unsurpassed anywhere in the world. -

ANY OTHER BUSINESS NOT INCLUDED IN AGENDA NAP Letter to Health Board The Committee, having previously received written notification of the National Appeals Panel’s (NAP) correspondence with NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde, learned from the Chairman the outcome of his meeting with the Chair and Vice Chair of the NAP. Mr Robertson gave the Committee an overview of the NAP concerns. He explained that there had been a satisfactory outcome to the his meeting with agreement being reached that the Pharmacy Practice Committee would conduct oral hearings for all and any applications where the Committee had not considered previous applications for the area and where the arguments around the application had not been heard previously. -

INTRODUCTION 1.1 On 19th April 2012, the Executive Director of Development and Regeneration Services published a briefing paper on the results, for Glasgow, of the 2010-base population projections prepared by National Records of Scotland (NRS). The paper gave also the main results of the household projections, prepared by Council staff, based on the NRS population projections. 1.2 On 14th June 2012 NRS published a set of sub-national household projections, based on the same 2010-base population projections. There are some differences in the results of the two household projections (NRS projections and GCC variant). These differences will be briefly discussed in a later section of this paper. Unless stated otherwise, the household projection results presented in this paper are those of the GCC variant projections. -
