FACTORY DEVELOPMENT INSTITUTE (FDI): NATIONAL SELECT PROGRAM July 23-27, 2014 Factory Development Institute & Baseball Factory Field at UMBC Baltimore, MD Players that are selected will have the opportunity to train with our experienced staff during this five day event which combines daily training with competitive game play. Players will stay on campus and train at UMBC’s facilities. In addition, players will train at the Factory Development Institute (FDI), a cutting edge national training, research and athletic development center located at the Factory Athletics Training Facility. Learn from the best coaches in the country at these great Maryland facilities! Players who attend will receive additional Baseball Factory Program benefits. FDI National Select Program Benefits: Factory Development Institute Participate in Game Time Pressure Training and Simulation, designed to help players learn how to deal with stressful elements including crowd noise, parent cheering, wind and fatigue. Our research shows that players who train under these extreme conditions will adapt to stress so they can perform better in real game situations. Game Time Pressure Training at the FDI was created by CEO/Founder of Baseball Factory, Steve Sclafani, along with prominent researcher and psychologist, Dr. James Driskell. Dr. Driskell is a leading expert on stress training and has worked with the Dept. of Defense and NASA. World Renowned Instruction Steve Bernhardt, Exec. VP of Baseball Factory and Chairman of the Under Armour All-America Game selection committee, leads FDI Training. All instruction is personalized to each player. Our coaches will work with each player to assess their strengths and areas for improvement. Competitive Game Play Put your hard work into game play with a chance to test your skills against some of your most talented peers. Corrective Videos Receive corrective videos targeted specifically for you to continue your development after the event. Post-event exposure to college coaches and professional scouts Your profile will be updated in our online searchable player database, where college coaches login daily to recruit players. Players will stay at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) and will train at the Baseball Factory Field at UMBC. In addition, players will spend a day at the Factory Development Institute, located at the Factory Athletics Training Facility in Columbia, MD. (Rate includes complimentary breakfast each day and free airport shuttle.) Itinerary to July 23 Player arrival between 9-11 AM at BWI (or earlier if needed), afternoon instruction. Include*: July 24 – 26 Players will participate in daily position specific workouts, simulated game play and additional drills and instruction. Players will also take part in Game Time Pressure Training at the FDI, participate in a college recruiting & academic admissions workshop, and attend a Minor League Baseball game in Maryland. July 27 Morning instruction, player departure from BWI between 3-6 PM (or later if needed). FDI Experts*: Steve Sclafani: As Baseball Factory Founder/CEO, Steve created Game Time Pressure Training at the FDI. The Factory has developed more college baseball players than any other organization in the U.S. Sclafani played collegiately at the U of Pennsylvania. Steve Bernhardt: Exec. VP of Baseball Factory & Chairman of the Under Armour All-America Game selection committee, Steve played professionally in the Colorado Rockies organization. Dan Mooney: Senior Director of College Recruiting at Baseball Factory and former professional player in the Boston Red Sox organization. Dan played collegiately at NC State. Bernadette Bechta: Academic Advisor and Admissions Specialist at Baseball Factory. Experience preparing student-athletes for college for over 20 years. Important Training ♦ Players traveling alone will be greeted by Baseball Factory representatives at baggage claim Info: ♦ Players are transported in team vans/buses from site to site ♦ Players are fully supervised 24 hours a day ♦ All meals will be provided through the duration of the event ♦ No spending money needed, but players may bring money for souvenirs at the MiLB game ♦ Players will receive an Under Armour jersey and hat ♦ Players should bring all necessary baseball equipment for training ♦ Players will receive online access to Baseball Factory’s Recruiting, Education and Development (R.E.D.) Manual ♦ Players will receive online access to a Strength Training Program from Dana Cavalea, the former strength and conditioning coach of the New York Yankees ♦ Players receive a detailed player info pack upon registration ♦ Parents welcome *Staff and general itinerary subject to change.
