Notice of Race 1. ORGANIZING AUTHORITY Hellenic Sailing Federation.

2. RULES The event will be governed by : o The Racing Rules of Sailing 2017-2020 (). o The prescriptions of the Hellenic National Authority will not apply, except N1: RRS 40 (PFD). All competitors, race officials and support personnel shall be required to wear an adequate personal floatation device at all times while afloat. o The National Authority prescriptions 2 and 3 shall apply for Greeks competing at the Athens International Sailing Week o The Class rules (unless otherwise modified by this Notice of Race and the Sailing Instructions). o The HSF 2019 racing programme concerning National Championships. o This Notice of Race. o The Sailing Instructions. o If there is a conflict between a rule in the Notice of Race and a rule in the Sailing Instructions, the rule in the Sailing Instructions shall take precedence. This changes RRS 63.7. o If there is a conflict between languages the English text shall take precedence.

3. ADVERTISING The World Sailing Advertising Code, Regulation 20 shall apply. may be required to display a bow number and advertisement of the event sponsor on either side on the forward 25% of the hull. Sailboards may be required to display such number and advertising on either side of the above the wishbone. Boats authorized to have advertising must present the permission of their National Authority. 4. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRIES 4.1 This regatta is open to the following events chosen for the 2020 Olympic Sailing Competition and the Parasailing Events:

4.2 This regatta is also open to the following events: 420, Laser 4.7, Techno293, Techno293Plus, and Optimist

4.3 Greek competitors shall be in compliance with the HSF rules (valid EIO card). This card must be submitted to the Registration Office at Registration. Greek competitors must include their club id code at the General Secretariat of Sports in their registration (i.e. NAUTICAL CLUB XXXX, ID CODE: ΦΨ 96)

Foreign competitors shall be in compliance with their respective national rules. Entries shall be made by email ([email protected]) no later than October 31, 2019.

For Olympic and Parasailing Classes, the Athens International Sailing Week Winder Series 2019 will also count as National Championships. (Information on web site : http://www.eio.gr ) Email : [email protected]

4.4 For the Athens International Sailing Week Winder Series a minimum of six (6) boats per event is required, in order to be considered valid

ENTRY FEES o Double handed: 80 € o Single-handed and board: 50 € o 420: 40 € o Laser 4,7/Techno293-Plus/Optimist 2.4mR and Hansa: 20 €

Entry fees shall be paid cash at registration upon arrival.

5. SCHEDULE OF RACES

Competitors and Team Leaders shall complete on-site registration forms at the Class Registration Office on Sunday November 10th 09:30 to 18:00

Competitors not registered within this time will not be entered. Sailing Instructions will be available at the registration desk.

5.2 For the Optimist, Laser 4.7, Techno293, Techno Plus and 420 classes the schedule of races is: Friday Nov 08th 9.00–13.00 Registration Friday Nov 08th 14:00 RACES Saturday Nov 09th 11:00 RACES Sunday Nov 10th 11:00 RACES Sunday Nov 10th 17:00 Prize Giving Ceremony

Competitors and Team Leaders shall complete on-site registration forms at the Class Registration Office on Friday Nov 08th 09:30 to 13:00.

5.3 On Saturday Nov 16th medal races are scheduled for Olympic Classes with 10 or more competing boats. Classes with less than 10 competing boats will continue fleet racing. There will be no racing for the competitors who did not qualify for the medal race. 6. RACING FORMAT 6.1 Olympic Classes with 10 or more competing boats 6.1.1 The class/event will consist of an opening series and a medal race. 6.1.2 The top ten finishers in the opening series of each class/event will advance to the medal race, provided a minimum of four races have been completed in the opening series. 6.1.3 There will be no racing for the competitors who did not qualify for the medal race. 6.2 Olympic Classes with less than 10 competing boats will continue fleet racing. 6.3 A total of 10 races has been scheduled for each class/event. 6.4 Courses will be of the same, as possible, configuration as those proposed for the Olympic Games and will defined at the sailing Instructions. 6.5 Four races must be sailed in order the event to be valid. 7. SAIL NUMBERS Boats shall use the approved Nationality Code Letters on their as required by Appendix G. Competitors may be required to wear bibs (which will be provided by Organizing Authority). In alteration of their Class Rules, the national letters and numbers on the sails shall apply for all classes according to RRS G1.1.

8. EQUIPMENT INSPECTION A boat or equipment may be inspected by the Technical Committee or a Race Committee member at any time for compliance with the class rules and sailing instructions. On the water, a boat can be instructed by the Technical Committee or a Race Committee member to proceed immediately to a designated area for inspection.

9. SCORING SYSTEM The Low - Point Scoring System will apply. I case of a tie Appendix 8A shall apply. 10. INTERNATIONAL JURY 10.1. For the Olympic and Parasailing classes events, an international jury constituted in compliance with Appendix N, will be appointed with the approval of the Hellenic Sailing Federation in accordance with RRS 91(b). Its decisions will be final, as detailed in RRS 70.5.

10.2 For the Optimist, Laser 4.7, Techno293 and 420 events a Protest committee will be appointed by the Organising Authority. Its decisions will be final according to the National Prescription no 8. 11. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY Competitors participate in the ATHENS INTERNATIONAL SAILING WEEK at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. The Organizing Authority and all parties involved in the regatta organization will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with the regatta or the venue that may occur to any person or property whether ashore or at sea as a consequence of the participation of any boat prior to, during, or after the ATHENS INTERNATIONAL SAILING WEEK. The Organizing Authority disclaims any and all such liability. THE ORGANIZING AUTHORITY WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY LIABILITY FOR PERSONAL OR MATERIAL DAMAGE, INJURY OR DEATH, SUSTAINED IN CONJUNCTION WITH, PRIOR TO, DURING OR AFTER THE ATHENS INTERNATIONAL SAILING WEEK. AUTHORITY THE ORGANIZING AUTHORITY DISCLAIMS ANY AND ALL SUCH LIABILITY. DISCLAIMS ANY AND ALL SUCH LIABILITY.

12. INSURANCE Competitors will participate to the ATHENS INTERNATIONAL SAILING WEEK entirely at their own risk. For each competing yacht at least a valid third party liability insurance with a minimum cover of not less than 540.000 Euros shall be in existence for the entire duration of the ATHENS INTERNATIONAL SAILING WEEK. It shall be the sole responsibility of the competitor to have such insurance cover and provide written proof thereof to the Organizing Authority upon request. Third party liability insurance with a minimum cover of 540.000 Euros. The original document issued by the insurance company must be presented at the registration desk.

13. RIGHT TO USE NAME AND LIKENESS A competitor participating to the ATHENS INTERNATIONAL SAILING WEEK, automatically grants to the Organizing Authority and the sponsors of ATHENS INTERNATIONAL SAILINGWEEK, the right in perpetuity, to make, use and show, from time to time and at their discretion, any motion pictures and live, taped or film television and other reproductions of him/her and his/hers activities during the period of the competition for the said ATHENS INTERNATIONAL SAILING WEEK in which the competitor participates and in all material related to the said ATHENS INTERNATIONAL SAILING WEEK without compensation.

14. SUPPORT BOATS 14.1 Support/coach boats must register the same time as the racing boats at the Race Office and shall their national or club flag at all times whilst on water.

14.2 All support boats must present at the registration desk a third party liability insurance with the minimum cover of 540.000 Euros, original insurance-policy and motorboat driving license recognized by a State authority.

14.3 According to the HSF National Prescription 1, all coaches and other support personnel shall wear personal floatation devices at all times while afloat.

14.4 Registered support boats shall act as rescue boats in case of need.

14.5 Support boats drivers observed not using the kill cord will not be allowed in the sailing area

15. PRIZES

Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 boats in each event. Information about ceremonies to be announced.

16. AMENDMENTS TO THE NOTICE OF RACE

This Notice of Race may be changed. Changes will be posted on the official event website.
