This year (2016) marks a further milestone for this purportedly largest cohort in history: They are turning 70 years old. The impact this group has had on society, coupled with the subtle and not so subtle theme of growth potential that permeates the transpersonal perspective and literature, offers fertile soil for the future. Unlike some spheres of life where the torch is passed on to the future generation and the ‘‘old guard’’ retires, sometimes into oblivion, the transpersonal movement necessitates a confluence of fresh voices alongside the experiential and continually emerging transpersonal development of the seasoned. Holding the proverbial torch in tandem, all have potential for layers of further transpersonal growth. Accordingly, articles in this issue offer a balance of seasoned as well as new authors, all of whom–with a transpersonal lens–engage the reader in research, thought, and/or action in navigating the challenges as well as potential we continue to face as a human species. Long time scholar Harry T. Hunt from Canada opens this issue of the Journal. Building cumulatively on his decades of research, integrated with that of others, he invites the reader into some deep considerations and differentiations regarding transpersonal development/realization. He combines systematic analysis along with both critical and contemplative reflection in considering transpersonal spiritual development as a higher form of social-personal intelligence—in short, as a neo- Piagetian formal operations in affect.

    The Entheogens: technology of Sacred from the shamanic experience The term "entheogen" comes from the greek "entheos" which means "God inside". It was used for the first time by Gordon Wasson to point out those aubatances which lead the human being to recognize the divine inside themselves. We are talking about "the sacred plants" which have always been used, in the sciamanic culture, to extabilish a contact with the parallel world of spirits in order to recognize the enemies and anything which can demage the human beeing. This in its intuitive and clairvoyant powers. Regarding the entheogenic experience, interesting hypotesis have been advanced, which consider it to be the origin of religions (G. Wasson), and history of humanity could be divided into three Eras. (J. OTT). The first one is the Era of Entheogens, which had been developing itself in at least 50 millenniums, was characterized by the shamanic spiritual demostration as the entheogenic religious experience of Iron Age. Surrounding this God was a great empty region called the Pleroma (the fullness). Beyond the Pleroma lay empty space. The God acted to fill the Pleroma through a series of emanations, a squeezing off of small portions of his/its nonphysical energetic divine material. In most accounts there are thirty emanations in fifteen complementary pairs, each getting slightly less of the divine material and therefore being slightly weaker. The emanations are called Aeons (eternities) and are mostly named personifications in Greek of abstract ideas.

    Neotrance and the Psychedelic Festival GRAHAM ST JOHN UNIVERSITY OF REGINA, UNIVERSITY OF QUEENSLAND Abstract !is article explores the religio-spiritual characteristics of psytrance (psychedelic trance), attending speci"cally to the characteristics of what I call neotrance apparent within the contemporary trance event, the countercultural inheritance of the “tribal” psytrance festival, and the dramatizing of participants’ “ultimate concerns” within the festival framework. An exploration of the psychedelic festival offers insights on ecstatic (self- transcendent), performative (self-expressive) and re!exive (conscious alternative) trajectories within psytrance music culture. I address this dynamic with reference to Portugal’s Boom Festival.     Jacaeber Kastor: Psychedelic Sun By Carlo McCormick In turns perplexing, disorienting, wondrous and utterly beguiling, Jacaeber Kastor’s drawings make you look, look again and then still more, trying to find your way in their miasmic magic until at last, well, you discover the special pleasure of being truly lost. And when you think you’re done, when you’ve decoded the esoteric and abstract, conjured all the forms and meanings from these oceans of latency, answered the call of otherness as if it were the sphinx’s riddle- turn the work or flip your head, around and around, because there is no single perspective to read Kastor’s psychedelic topography: it is an entwined and constantly unfolding omniverse that has no right side up or upside down. If, in the course of your wanderings through Kastor’s meandering poetics of line and space, you come across the unexpected, the oddly familiar or the impossibly alien- for indeed you surely will, quite possible all at once with overwhelming simultaneity- and you ask yourself how did you even come to get here, you might also ask how indeed did this artist arrive at just such a place him- self. Make no mistake about it, Jacaeber Kastor is an intrepid voyager of body and mind, an adventurer without destination or designation, a man without return for even when he has somehow been there before he understands it as different, everything nuanced with the subtle shifts of impercep tible change, actuality always just beyond the tiny grasp of appearance, reason or replication. His art, like the convolutions of a restless mind guiding the inspired hand of uncertainty, is the tracings of a mind- traveler, a map to the nowhere that is everywhere, something so personally idiosyncratic that it marks a shared commons where likeness meets in a zone of compatible dissimilarity.

    Hallucinogens And Dissociative Drug Use And Addiction Introduction Hallucinogens are a diverse group of drugs that cause alterations in perception, thought, or mood. This heterogeneous group has compounds with different chemical structures, different mechanisms of action, and different adverse effects. Despite their description, most hallucinogens do not consistently cause hallucinations. The drugs are more likely to cause changes in mood or in thought than actual hallucinations. Hallucinogenic substances that form naturally have been used worldwide for millennia to induce altered states for religious or spiritual purposes. While these practices still exist, the more common use of hallucinogens today involves the recreational use of synthetic hallucinogens. Hallucinogen And Dissociative Drug Toxicity Hallucinogens comprise a collection of compounds that are used to induce hallucinations or alterations of consciousness. Hallucinogens are drugs that cause alteration of visual, auditory, or tactile perceptions; they are also referred to as a class of drugs that cause alteration of thought and emotion. Hallucinogens disrupt a person’s ability to think and communicate effectively. Hallucinations are defined as false sensations that have no basis in reality: The sensory experience is not actually there. Hallucinogens work, at least in part, by disrupting communication between neurotransmitter systems throughout the body including those that regulate sleep, hunger, sexual behavior and muscle control. Patients under the influence of hallucinogens may show a wide range of unusual and often sudden, volatile behaviors with the potential to rapidly fluctuate from a relaxed, euphoric state to one of extreme agitation and aggression.
