The policies in the Core Strategy use these relationships and the general hierarchy of settlements. 1.2 The role of this paper is therefore to; Explain the role of national policy in the hierarchy Provide background evidence for a settlement hierarchy as used in the LDF 1.3 An understanding of the settlement hierarchy is important as the Local Development Framework (LDF) must set out a clear order of preference for the location of development. This needs to be robust, not just for the short term in the context of limited or no housing supply, but in the longer term when development requirements change.

  • Elections – Polling Arrangements
Elections – Polling Arrangements Review of polling districts, places and stations 2014 Background information If you have any comments or questions please contact: Geraldine Randall-Wilce Electoral Services Officer High Street Coleford Glos GL16 8HG. Tel: 01594 812626 [email protected] 1 Review of polling districts, places and stations General Information The Electoral Registration and Administration Act 2013 introduced a change to the timing of compulsory reviews of UK Parliamentary polling districts and polling places. The next compulsory review must now be started; subsequent compulsory reviews must be carried out every 5 years. The last review took place in 2011. The local authority is responsible for designating polling districts and polling places whilst the Returning officer is responsible for decisions on polling stations. A polling district is a geographical area. Each parish/parish ward must be a separate polling district. A good starting point is to include the whole parish/parish ward as one polling district. If this is too large in order to provide easy access the area can be split into smaller polling districts. A polling place is the area or building in which a polling station is located and should be within the polling district unless it is not possible to find a suitable place. A polling station is the actual room or building where polling takes place. This information is available on the notice of poll and communicated to electors via their poll card. How the review is conducted The Council announces that the review is to take place. The Returning Officer must be consulted on the current arrangements and must make representations on the existing polling stations used.

  • Summer 2018 All Freetext Comments from Engagement Survey
Outcome of Engagement Report – Summer 2018 All freetext comments from engagement survey respondents I think that the new community hospital should be in or near Cinderford because: It is central to the forest It is the most accessible part of the forest when there is severe weather. It is a central location within the forest, with good connections to other areas of the forest and wider Gloucestershire. It would make transferring between hospitals easier for patients. as part of my work role I cover the Forest of Dean currently based at the Dilke, on a one hour response time I can be anywhere in the Forest within this time frame based in either Coleford or Cinderford its central to North Forest - Maisemore, Corse, etc. More of a community area. This seems a better option as it is central to the forest and would be accessible to many. it would be in our locality and easiest to reach. It has good communications and is closest to my locality ITS CENTRAL TO THE WHOLE FOD CATCHMENT AREA Cinderford is a central location for residents across the FOD, when you take in locations in the Forest such as Newent, Coleford or Lydney would be too far to travel. It is in the most central location, with reasonably good public transport. If it was in Lydney this would be difficult for some people to access, especially people from Newent and surrounding areas. It is situated centrally between Lydney and Gloucester Central to the Forest. Close to area of high deprivation who may otherwise struggle to access healthcare.

The BrookDean Benefice January 2018 Benefice Profile Benefice Profile, Page 1 The BrookDean Benefice January 2018 Welcome to the BrookDean Benefice (Parishes of Drybrook, Lydbrook & Ruardean) The three Parishes of Drybrook, Lydbrook and Ruardean became one united Benefice in 2006. Each of the Parishes have their own respective Parochial Church Councils. The Benefice’s legal name is actually ‘The United Benefice of Drybrook, Lydbrook and Ruardean’. Recently all three PCCs, in an effort to redesign and make a more united Benefice chose an informal name of ‘The BrookDean Benefice’. This has yet to be made legal, but as you will see it has been referenced in this document. The BrookDean Benefice is located in the Forest of Dean, a geographical, historical and cultural region in the west of the County of Gloucestershire. It forms a roughly triangular area bounded by the River Wye to the west and northwest, Herefordshire to the north, the River Severn to the south, and the City of Gloucester to the east. Benefice Profile, Page 2 The BrookDean Benefice January 2018 Life and Worship ‘All the nations you have made will come and worship before you’ Psalm 86:9 The services provided in the three Churches across the Benefice follow an orthodox style & teaching within the Anglican tradition, although there is flexibility in the variety of services. Currently, across the Benefice, services held include: Holy Communion (including Said BCP) Sung Eucharist Family Communion Worship for All Evensong (BCP) Celtic Evening Prayer Healing For more information as to the current pattern across the Benefice, please see Appendices.

  • The Forester's Forest
‘That devil’s wonder Book That tore our lives asunder Reviews And left behind a nightmare trail Of horrors scattered through the brain, FOREST OF DEAN Of shattered hopes and memories fail’ LOCAL HISTORY Our friends at Yorkley A&E continue to be busy, and David Adams has recently authored a short book containing ‘Scenes From The SOCIETY Life of Poet and War Casualty F. W Harvey’. Countering the usual focus on Harvey the War Poet, David Adams presents a series of ‘snapshots’ of Harvey’s life in reverse chronolo- gy. Seemingly a sensitive child, his mother encouraged him to be- come a solicitor, and he was articled to a Gloucester solicitor until World War One intervened. He enlisted with his two brothers, and fought in France. Harvey was deeply affected by his time in the army, and in the book Dr Chris Nancollas promotes the view that Harvey subsequently suffered what we now know as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). David Adams helps us understand through the book how the terrible events of World War One cast a shadow over the rest of Harvey’s life, most of which was spent peacefully in Yorkley. The book, which is recommended, contains many of Harvey’s poems which are used cleverly to illustrate the series of snapshots which help us to gain a fuller understanding of Harvey the man. “The Nightmare Trail” 78 pages ISBN 978-0-9572087-4-2 Price: £7.50 Available via www.yorkleyae.weebly.com or from the Forest Bookshop, Coleford History Society member Ian Wright initially researched the ‘comb out’ of miners in WW1 for the Society WW1 project.

REGULATORY BOARD COMMONS AND RIGHTS OF WAY COMMITTEE 22nd SEPTEMBER 2005 AGENDA ITEM: Application for Registration of Land known as Roebuck Field, Ruardean Woodside as a Town or Village Green Commons Registration Act 1965 Report of the Head of Legal and Democratic Services 1. Purpose of Report To consider the following application: Nature of Application: Application for the registration of land at Roebuck Field, Ruardean Woodside as a Town or Village Green. Parish: Ruardean Woodside Name of Applicant: Ruardean Woodside Millennium Committee Date of Application: 24 October 2003 2. Recommendation That the application by the Ruardean Woodside Millennium Committee for the registration of land at Roebuck Field, Ruardean Woodside (which is shown edged red on the map annexed hereto numbered …..A) as a Town or Village Green pursuant to Section 13 of the Commons Registration Act 1965 should be refused for the reasons set out in the Inspector’s report dated 28 July 2005. 3. Resource Implications The legal cost in taking each application to the Committee is in the region of £1,000. In addition, there are administrative costs in processing the application and the giving of the requisite statutory notices. Should any of the parties desire a “non statutory public inquiry” before final determination by the Registration Authority, the costs will be significantly increased. In this case, such an inquiry did in fact take place and the Inspector’s costs were in the region of £6,500 plus VAT. However, this cost needs to be balanced against the costs of a potential judicial review which could exceed £10,000.
