These changes will affect all passengers departing to Australia , as well as to Singapore , Hong Kong , Manila and any other Air Niugini international destinations. All passengers departing internationally will be required to be tested for Covid-19 at time of check-in. This is in addition to the requirement for the negative PCR test conducted within three days of travel. International SOS have been contracted to conduct this test (at no cost to the passenger), and will be conducting this testing at the car park next to the International Terminal (between the terminal and the plaza area).     Pacific Studies Series About Oceanic Voyages: Aviation in the Pacific International aviation services are crucial to trade, growth, and development in the Pacific region. Improved access provided by international aviation from every other region in the world to an increasing number of islands is opening new opportunities. Tourism contributes substantially to income and employment in many Pacific countries, usually in areas outside of the main urban centers, and enables air freight services for valuable but perishable commodities that would otherwise not be marketable. Although some features of the Pacific region make provision of international aviation services a challenge, there have also been some notable successes that offer key lessons for future development. Case studies of national aviation sector experience show the value of operating on commercial principles, attracting international and OCEANIC V private-sector capital investment, assigning risk where it can best be managed, and liberalizing market access. Integration of the regional market for transport services, combined with harmonized but less restrictive regulations, would facilitate a greater range of services at more competitive prices. Pacific island country governments have the ability to create effective operating environments. When they do so, experience O shows that operators will respond with efficient service provision. Overview: aviation safety and security 1 Safe and secure aviation services are crucial to Papua New Guinea (PNG) and the island states of the southwest Pacific, which depend on them for their economic wellbeing and growth. In much of PNG and the Pacific, air services are the primary means of connectivity. Without them both economic development and normal social interaction would be impossible. 2 The safety and security of these services are also important to Australia. Many Australians travel through the Pacific region and PNG and Pacific airspace is contiguous to Australia’s (which itself covers 11 per cent of global airspace). 3 The Pacific aviation sector faces numerous challenges. The sector is struggling with rising fuel costs and is vulnerable to economic downturns. The recent entry of low- cost carriers has led to some reduction in airfares and significant increases in passenger traffic. But the sector continues to face challenges typical of remote and regional services, including servicing a number of non-commercially viable routes to smaller states.

Whilst this was only a limited refurbishment, the aircraft now looks much cleaner and neater than it did. As was our aim, we purchased our Airbus A320 from the leasing company in September and will be selling it soon in order to maximise the value of the engines currently fitted to it. As many of you will remember, we struggled to find parts for this particular engine type last year and we don’t want to have that problem in the future. There are numerous A320s fitted with this older engine still in operation all over the world and because of the shortage of parts, the engines are in great demand.
