 The Region is in southeastern Pennsylvania.  Many goods are transported through because it is located on a fall line.  Fertile soil is the feature that makes the Erie Lowland Region able to produce so many fruits and vegetables.  Erie has become the third biggest city because of its good port.  The boundaries of the Allegheny Plateau in Pennsylvania lie in the northern and western areas.  An individual could drive across the Erie Lowland Region in a few minutes.  Pennsylvania’s capital is Harrisburg.  The lie along the eastern edge of the Allegheny Plateau.  means “foot of the mountain”.  Harrisburg which is Pennsylvania’s capital was established in 1812.  The Atlantic Coastal Plain is best described as most of the region is covered by Philadelphia and its suburbs.  In 1829, mining companies began digging for coal in the Allegheny Plateau.  Valleys border the mountain ranges in the Ridge and Valley Region.  “Ridges that are separated by valleys” describes the South Mountain Region.  Its level ground is the feature in the Erie Lowland which makes it a good area for building railroads and highways.  The Erie Lowland major crop is grapes.  A port is a harbor, or place where ships can load and unload cargo and be safe from storms.  Gold is an example of a mineral.  Deep mining is used by miners to get minerals underground.  The Ice Age is the period when the Earth was much colder than it is today.
