UNITED NATIONS SYSTEM Chief Executives Board for Coordination High Level Committee on Programmes Working Group on Market Efficiency and Integration TRADE CAPACITY BUILDING INTER-AGENCY [Resource Guide] UNITED NATIONS Vienna, 2008 ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS This Resource Guide is the result of a major collaborative effort among twenty-one organizations of the UN System. While UNIDO has coordinated the inter-agency work that led to this guide, only the numerous contributions of many colleagues from the participating organizations could transform the idea of the guide into reality. For the conceptualization of this Resource Guide, and in particular to propose a categorization framework, three UN System organiza- tions were mandated in the first inter-agency meeting in September 2006. The three were: ITC, with contributions from Siphana Sok, Osman Atac, Ashish Shah, Miguel Jiménez-Pont; UNECE, with contributions from Virginia Cram-Martos and Abdur Chowdhury; and UNIDO, with contributions from Steffen Kaeser, Muge Dolun and Juan Pablo Davila. It maps out India’s engagement on these two issues through four case studies and places them in the context of multilateral theory and international cooperation theory. It further considers factors within the game theoretic models of cooperation, including asymmetrical distribution of benefits and the horizon of time for negotiation and engagement on a particular issue. The paper argues that the prevailing hypothesis, which claims that an asymmetry of distribution of benefits increases the likelihood of cooperation, does not hold up in India’s context.

  • International Day of Yoga 2019
    International Day of Yoga 2019 International Yoga Day was celebrated on June 16, 2019, in Washington DC by the Washington Monument. The event was organized by the Indian Ambassador to the United States, Harsh Vardhan Shringla. It was a wonderful program. More than two thousand people participated from different communities, civil societies, and yoga groups. Numbers of news media highlighted the program. The yoga teacher, Mr. Moksesh, demonstrated numbers of yoga postures and meditation. Ananda Marga was represented by Ac. Dhruva, Devika, Ac. Abhiramananda Avt., and Sandeep Khanuja. Numbers of yoga groups distributed their visiting cards and flyers. TV Asia interviewed Ac. Abhiramananda Avt., and broadcasted the interview around the Globe. They met with the Ambassador and invited him to the Ananda Marga office. It was a great program, and Dada Rudrananda delivered a lecture regarding spirituality and yoga in the field of society.
