Genetic and morphological divergence and phylogenetic relationships of Scorpaeniformes fishincludingtwogeneraandsixspecies, Helicolenus dactylopterus, Scorpaena maderensis, Scorpaena porcus, Scorpaena elongata, Scorpaena scrofa, Scorpaena notata, living in the Mediterranean Sea, were investigated with morphological and mitochondrial 16S rDNA sequence data. The mean nucleotide diversity was found to be 0.0792. Average sequence divergence between species of Sebastidae and Scorpaenidae was 8.4%, and 6.4%. between species of the genus Scorpaena. For congeneric comparisions, the lowest genetic divergence (0.7%) was observed between S. porcus and S. notata, and the highest divergence (10.8%) was detected between S. maderensis and S. notata. High levels of nucleotide divergence were detected between species of two families, and the maximum value was found to be 14.5% between H. dactylopterus and S. elongata. The two phylogenetic methods (NJ and MP)identifiedtwomajorlineages. IntheNJtree S. elongata wasthesistergroupto S. scrofa. S. maderensis was more divergent from these groups. Another lineage contained S. porcus and S. notata. The topology of the MP tree is similar to that of the NJ tree. The pattern and degree of morphological differentiation was not congruent with the genetic differentiation. The Euclidiean distances of morphological data revealed very high morphological divergence between the two families. -

The list 24 is based on historical literature records and new revisions. The ichthyofauna list is 25 composed by 397 species very diversified in 2 superclass, 3 class, 35 orders, 139 1 1 families and 288 genus. The order Perciformes is the most diverse one with 37 families, 2 91 genus and 135 species. Gobiidae (19 species) and Sparidae (19 species) are the 3 richest families. Biogeographically, the Lusitanian group includes 203 species (51.1%), 4 followed by 149 species of the Atlantic (37.5%), then 28 of the Boreal (7.1%), and 17 5 of the African (4.3%) groups. We have recognized 41 new records, and 3 other records 6 have been identified as doubtful. -

Corresponding author: M. Fauzi, [email protected] Abstract. Diplocheilichthys pleurotaenia is one of native fish present in the Kampar River. This fish used to migrate to downstream area due to reproductive activities. The construction of the Koto Panjang Dam may hamper this activity and also divided the population into 2 groups, the upstream and downstream population. To understand the biological aspects of the fish in both populations and its relationship to the presence of the dam, this study has been conducted from November 2011 to August 2012. The fish was sampled in the Kampar River, in the upstream and downstream of the Koto Panjang Dam. The fish was captured using gill nets monthly for a ten months period. The number of fish captured in the upstream was 7, while that of of the downstream was 228. The sex ratio of the fish is almost balance. The fish from both population shown similar reproductive pattern, there are mature males and females in April and there is no fish caught in May due to reproductive purposes migration. The reproductive activity of the upstream fish is unsucceed as there is no single small fish found. The rarity and the lack of small fish in the upstream population is strongly related to the failure of reproduction due to the construction of the Koto Panjang Dam. -

In addition, the fish otoliths are frequently used to decide age and size of the teleost fishes. The relationships between otolith measurements (length, width, and weight) and fish length and weight were calculated for Randall’s threadfin bream, Nemipterus randalli collected from Gökova Bay, Turkey. Otolith length, width and weight were shown to be good indicators of the length of fish, but the best indicator was the otolith length. Sizes of the left and right otoliths were found not be significantly different. INTRODUCTION The rate of consumption in predators, the biomass of the prey consumed, and selectivity of a predator towards a particular size class of prey are groups of biological and ecological information frequently applied in the feeding studies. -

Benthos - Hard substrate or secondary hard substrate Hard substrate is generally grouped into primary and secondary hard substrate. In any case, due abiotic conditions, these environments are intensely structured. (Primary) Hard substrate: Mostly found along shorelines battered by strong currents and intense wave and tidal action, they remain free from sediments and other influences that would soften its appearance. Offering the bare rocky substrate to a wide selection of sedentary organisms (flora and fauna), persistent competition among species for empty space generates a rich diversity which themselves offer a new habitat for benthic invertebrates and fish. Secondary Hard Substrate: This substrate includes particles of organic and inorganic matter that accumulate in a loose unconsolidated form of biogenous (e.g. reef building corals), lithogenous or cosmogenous origin; usually beyond the compensation depth (aphotic or mesopelagic zone). Huge number of micro-organic debris that have slowly accumulated on the ocean floor (e.g. foraminifera silica-made, diatoms of cooler waters w/ silica housing), and others join with detrital products of disintegration of preexisting rocks and of volcanic ejecta, runoff by rivers, or glaciers; redistribution through waves and currents including relocation of desert sand by wind into the sea. Under certain circumstances, such sediments can harden into a compact conglomerate, thus providing a new nesting substrate. Other means of substrate formation are displayed by the tube worms of the phylum annelids. -

The present study was carried out between 01 January 2015 and 30 September 2016 in Sinop peninsula coasts of the southern Black Sea. The fish samples were captured trammel nets (32 mm, 36 mm 40 mm and 48 mm mesh size) in 0-15-30-45 meters depth ranges. The average length of common stingray, greater weever, scorpion fish and stargazer were established 48.2±4.98 cm 17.88±0.25 cm, 11.49±0.07 cm and 13.25±0.47 cm respectively. LWR of the venomous fishes were determined W=0.0028L3.2187 (n=12, R2=0.97), W=0.0287L2.5776 (n= 181, R2=0.93), W=0.0245L2.9050 (n=808, R2=0.98) and W=0.0181L2.9398 (n=779, R2=0.98), respectively. -
