Founded in 1946 and merged at the beginning of 21st Century with other 5 universities, Jilin University has become the biggest university in China. Today, the University enrolls 73,072 full-time students, 27,397 of whom are graduate students and 2,415 are international students. 6,657 faculty members including 2,110 full professors have made great contribution to the academic excellence of the University. With the support from the Ministry of Education, especially from “985 Brief Introduction of the Project” and “211 Project” etc., the University has taken it seriously to University create a perfect atmosphere for scientific research, educational innovation and talent cultivation. Language of Instruction Chinese or English.
Programs in Chinese: 1) A valid HSK Level 5 score which is higher than 180. 2) Diplomacy (School of International and Public Affairs) needs a valid HSK Level 5 score which is higher than 180 and a valid TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) score which is higher than 550(PBT) or 213(CBT) or 79(iBT) or a valid IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score which is higher than 6.0. 3) Clinical Medicine (5 years, undergraduate program, Clinical Medical College) needs a valid HSK Level 5 score which is higher than 180. Language Requirements for 4) Chinese language (teaching Chinese to speakers of other Exchange Students languages, undergraduate program) and Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (BTCSL) need a valid HSK Level 4 score which is higher than 180. International Business and Economics 2+2 (undergraduate program) need a valid HSK Level 3 score which is higher than 180. Programs in English: 1)There is a language test from institution (Jilin University). 2) Clinical Medicine (6 years, undergraduate program, Clinical Medical College) needs high school English score of 80 points or above B. Note: no language requirement for the students who apply for the program of Chinese Language (for none-native speakers).

4 Before the Official nomination, exchange coordinators MUST consult with JLU Nomination exchange program manager or officer for your region concerning the number of Procedure Student Exchange Program nominees. 1.Nominated Name list; 2.A letter of recommendation from the office responsible for exchange students at home institution; Required 3.Exchange students application form (online); Documents for 4.Study plan in English or Chinese; Application 5.Official transcript; 6.Certificate of Enrollment; 7.A copy of passport photo page; 8.Language test certificate. E. Academic Information: It depends. JLU is not absolute credit system at present. A student Course or Credits Load per should take courses according to the teaching plan of the department he Semester or she is enrolled in. F. Upon Arrival: Free of charge for exchange students for first time arrival should be Pick-up Service within the reporting time. Please send the “information Exchange Students Admission Guide” to regional manager or officer online.
G. Other Information:
Age Requirement All international students MUST be aged over 18 and under 60.
All international students need a residence permit if staying longer than Residence Permit 6 months in China. It can be obtained under help of JLU staff after arrival.
Exchange students MUST go to an authorized hospital to get one after Health Examination arrival in China.
All international students (including exchange students) are required to have a group comprehensive insurance, which includes an Accidental Injury Medical Treatment Insurance & a Hospitalization Medical Insurance when they arrive. Insurance Whether exchange students have purchased insurance in home country or not, it’s necessary to purchase insurance after coming to China. Insurance Fee: ￥400 CNY for 6 months ￥800 CNY for 12 months
We provide accommodation and beds for exchange students. Exchange Housing students live in campus in principle. We don't allow exchange students to live off campus . All rooms are double-occupancy in principle .
The living expenses (on-campus housing and meals) will be approximately￥3000CNY per month. Following is a rough estimate of expenses for a single person living in Changchun: living Expenses Lunch or dinner at a restaurant ￥50.00 Public Bus ticket (one way) ￥1.00+ Subway ￥2.00+ Taxi ￥6.00+
6 Changchun has four distinct seasons. Average summer temperature ranges from 20-25℃, highest being some 30℃, the weather is dry and Average Temperature in usually air conditioning is not needed in summer. Average winter Changchun temperature is about -12 to -16℃, lowest rarely reaches -30℃. but all rooms are well heated. You could enjoy skating and skiing in winter time. International students (X visa holders) are not allowed to work Work Permit outside the campus yet.
