Dwyer, requested by Monday - Friday Mom & Dad 8:30 am to 4:30 pm ‘Bad’ News I recall the day I visited a primary school and listened to stories that students had written on the theme of, I didn’t mean to be bad. The stories ranged from breaking a window to throwing a live toad into a pot of burgoo at camp. None of the children had intended to do something bad. These things just seem to happen. And the students were genuinely sorry. Scripture stories reveal the atrocities of God’s faithful but often foolish people. The Israelites didn’t set out to be bad, but they often were, forgetting their generous and loving Lord. Ultimately, they repent, are forgiven and start again. We, as God’s children, are now entrusted with the vineyard. The Old Testament lessons, plus the Gospels, guide our actions toward fruitfulness. God forgives us for occasionally “being bad.” but it will be our mess to clean up. Our work begins with caring for others and forgiving each other as our Father forgives us. D. A.
