Mayor and Board of Commissioners THROUGH: Jonathan Evans, City Manager FROM: Derryl O’Neal, Fire Chief DATE: 3/15/2019 RE: Firefighter of the Year, Driver Engineer Dominic Bueller Background Driver Engineer/Fire Medic Dominic Bueller is a valued member of our Madeira Beach Fire Department family. He began his employment in 2007 and from that point forward has been willing to take on new tasks and assignments. These duties include water rescue operations, basic life support instructor, lead trainer for Clover, pre-plan coordinator and acting company officer. All these tasks and duties are above and beyond his responsibilities as an Advanced Life Support Paramedic. Engineer Bueller has a strong knowledge of the fire service. He is confident in his abilities and is able to think quickly during emergencies. He is a quality paramedic with sound know-how of patient care and protocol. His dedication and training allowed him to test for and be promoted to the rank of Driver/Engineer in 2015. Dominic is also active in the community, participating in many civic and educational events. He visits local schools with our fire apparatus and/or Clover, our firehouse dog. During such visits he provides educational scenarios on fire safety and an overview of the fire service. He is one of our three CPR instructors who are responsible to lead a CPR and First Aid class that our Department offers to the public. D/E Bueller is also a member of the Gulf Beach Masonic Lodge. Even with his busy employment schedule, Dom always has time for his wife (who is a fulltime nursing student) and his three elementary school age boys: Jayden, Nolan and Nathan. If that wasn’t enough, on his off-duty time, he has been known to teach Martial Arts at a local recreation center. DE/PM Bueller was nominated by his peers for the 2019 Firefighter of the Year. His knowledge, positive attitude and willingness to take on new assignments are all noteworthy contributions to the Madeira Beach Fire Department and our community. It gives me great pleasure to announce Dominic Bueller as Firefighter of the Year for 2019. Revised – December 27, 2018 Page 5 of 218 TO: Hon.
