Coronavirus Regulations.

South Hams District Council's - Environmental Health Specialists are now authorised under ‘The Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) () Regulations 2020’:http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2020/350/made

This is a dual role with Devon County Trading Standards that gives the District Council the power to close businesses that are not permitted to be open.

This does not permit the use of holiday accommodation, which includes rentals, campsites etc. Some exemptions apply – these are mainly for key workers and those that would be made homeless otherwise. Therefore, the Council does have the ability to close businesses if required.

The schedule to the Regulations does not include second homes, so therefore the only sanction that may be taken is by the Police, who enforce the movement restriction part of the same legislation. Where the District Council receives complaints of this nature, they are forwarded to the Police.

If you have concerns about use of second homes or inappropriate gatherings that may contravene the regulations please contact the police on the non emergency number or online. The Parish Council has no power in these matters.

To report concerns about a business that is opening but should not be, please use www.southhams.gov.uk/businessconcerns Devon County Council urgently need community equipment returning if it is no longer needed.

If you've got any community equipment you no longer need please can you return it? We urgently need commodes, walking frames, shower stools, and raised toilet seats, as increased demand during the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak means these items are in danger of being in short supply.

Please contact Millbrook Care on 0330 124 4491 to arrange a free contactless collection.

Many thanks to all the people who have volunteered, it is much appreciated . We are in this for the long haul and you will be needed. Can I also thank my fellow councillors for all they are doing.

We are keen for this information to be circulated as widely as possible so if you can pass the links on or print it off and give to neighbours that would find it useful.
