Vokal terakhir kata-kata fawqa (bukan fawq), tahta (bukan taht), bayna (bukan bayn), amama (bukan amam), warā’a (bukan warā’), dan sejenisnya. iv ABSTRAK Skripsi ini merupakan hasil penelitian tentang karakteristik anshârullah dalam Al-Qur’an dan implementasinya oleh organisasi Front Pembela Islam (FPI) di Kota Pekanbaru. Di dalam Al-Qur’an ada diterangkan tentang kewajiban setiap individu muslim untuk membela dan menolong agama Allah. Para mufassir telah menerangkan bagaimana ciri-ciri dan karakteristik anshârullah tersebut. Adapun FPI adalah ormas yang didirikan untuk mengimplementasikan kewajiban membela agama Islam. Bagaimana karakteristik anshârullah menurut para mufassir dan bagaimana penerapannya oleh organisasi Front Pembela Islam di Kota Pekanbaru

By focusing its analysis on the dynamics of political life in Bangkalan, Madura, the paper argues that the encounter between these two different ideological streams is possible under particular circumstances. First, there is a specific political situation where the moderate Islam is able to control the political posts. Second, there is a forum where they can articulate Islamic ideas in terms of classical and modern political movements. This study has also found out that the binary perspective applied in the analysis of Islamic movement is not always relevant. The fact, as in the case of Bangkalan, is far more complex, in which NU and Islamic Defender Front (FPI) can merge.     12 2 July 2020 Saudi Strategies for Religious Influence and Soft Power in Indonesia Jarryd de Haan Research Analyst Indo-Pacific Research Programme Key Points Saudi Arabia’s push for religious influence in Indonesia has primarily taken shape through educational facilities, which remain the key source of influence today. Evidence of Saudi influence can also be seen through a trend of the “Arabisation” of Islam in Indonesia, as well as pressure on the Indonesian Government to maintain its hajj quota. Indonesian Muslim groups that object to the Salafist doctrine will continue to act as a brake on Saud i religious influence. Pancasila and, more broadly, nationalism, could also be used by those seeking to limit Saudi influence in the future. The long-term implications are less clear, but it is likely that Indonesia will continue to see elements of its own society continue to push for the adoption of more conservative policies and practices. Summary Saudi Arabia has a long history of exporting its brand of Islam across the globe as a tool of religious soft power influence and as a means to counter the influence of its rival, Iran. Indonesia, a country which contains the largest Muslim population in the world, has been at the receiving end of that influence for decades. This paper examines the origins of Saudi religious influence in Indonesia, the obstacles to that influence and identifies some of the implications that it may have for Indonesian society in the long-term future. Moreover, it is suggested that the rise of Islamist groups could likely transform Indonesia into an intolerant Islamist country. However, this article asserts that the Islamist groups are unlikely to reform Indonesia into an Islamic State or Sharia–based government and society, and are unable to receive the support and approval of the Indonesian Muslim majority due to the following fundamental reasons: the groups’ internal and inherent weaknesses, ruptured alliance among the groups, lack of Islamist political parties, limited intellectual grounds of the movement, the accommodation of some influential Muslim clerics and figures into the central government body, and public opposition toward the Islamist groups.     IQAS Vol. 48/ 2017 3–4, pp. 249–272 Islam, Politics, and Cyber Tribalism in Indonesia A Case Study on the Front Pembela Islam Timo Duile Abstract At the end of 2016, Islamist organisations proved able to mobilise hundreds of thousands of people for political purposes in Indonesia. In order to explain their success, the role of social media should not be underestimated, as Islamic movements rely heavily on agitation in online media. This article sheds light on the example of the Front Pembela Islam, using one of the or- ganisation’s Facebook pages as a case study. Within the algorithmic enclave of a cyber tribe, narratives and symbols are applied in memes. The research examines how narratives and sym- bols evoke emotions in online memes and offline banners, what narratives are addressed, and how the memes make claims regarding commonly acknowledged signifiers such as the NKRI, Islam and Pluralism. The guiding thesis is that these memes express not simply anti-pluralist or anti-NKRI notions, as opponents of these groups frequently assert, but rather combinations of robust nationalism and their alternative version of pluralism with conservative Islamic ap- proaches. Nonetheless, threats and enemies are inevitably present as a constitutive outside and suggest a highly exclusive version of Indonesianness. Thus similar narratives and symbols ap- plied in online media also emerge within public spaces, blurring the distinction between the online and offline realms. Social media is no longer used to obtain and disseminate information or entertainment, but it is also used to attack someone’s personality. Through slander and hoax information, character assassination is carried out on individuals. This study seeks to portray the negative effects of social media, especially related to cyber violence, character assassination through cyberbullying. This study focuses on cyberbullying of Muslim leaders (ulama) on social media. This abuse can be said as a model of killing new characters towards someone's character in the new public sphere. Through the data of the status, comments, tweets, and memes on Facebook and Twitter, this study found that cyberbullying occurred through social media towards ulama was perpetuated by other Islamic groups, which have different political attitudes and choices. In other words, abuse is the fruit of ideological and political wars, which occur both in the real world and in cyberspace. There is a shift in the Indonesian Muslim community which was previously known to be very respectful to their ulama, and currently they are bold to bully their religious leaders This is a symptom of ambiguity from the conservative turn issue. Norms, traditions, and ethics of the community that shows conservative symptoms, actually show resistance to the values of the conservative community.

    STRATEGY Local Jihad: Local Jihad: Radical Islam and terrorism in Indonesia Radical Islam and terrorism in Indonesia ASPI STRATEGY JIHAD: LOCAL Recent violent radicalism in Indonesia is seen by many as a relatively recent phenomenon, but a closer look at modern Indonesian history shows the inaccuracy of this view. As much as Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) sees itself as being part of a broader global jihadist movement, it also regards itself as the heir to Darul Islam (DI). DI’s armed struggle for an Islamic state in Indonesia and its members’ sacrifice in the name of jihad during the 1950s INDONESIA IN TERRORISM AND ISLAM RADICAL and 1960s make it an inspiration for JI members today. The immediate post-Soeharto years were undoubtedly a time of resurgence for Indonesian radicalism. Since late-2002, however, the radical revival has stalled and gone into reverse. JI has been hard hit by the post-Bali bombing crackdown by the Indonesian police and intelligence services. Nonetheless it has shown considerable resilience and capacity for adaptation to this new, and much less congenial, environment. Using an assessment of the history and future prospects of radical Islam within Indonesia. Local Jihad provides a wider understanding of the many disparate groups that represent the radical Islamic community within Indonesia. It concludes that Islamic radicalism has always been a part of Indonesian political and religious life since independence and it is likely to remain so. The more important question is to what extent violence becomes a more regular feature of radical behaviour. Terrorism might be a global issue but for Australia the threat is inextricably tied up with the problems of the future stability of our neighbours, particularly Indonesia.
