Electronic Clutch Actuator Function

Clutch disengagement

Clutch Actuator In order to disengage the clutch, the ECU signals inlet (2.4.1 and 2.4.2) to open. This allows the pressurised air at port 1 to flow into the cylinder (1.1) causing the operating piston (1.2) to move to the left and apply the lever of the clutch. The electronic clutch actuator is used in commercial 1.1 vehicles with automated manual or fully automatic units. Its function is to apply the clutch automatically (engaging and disengaging), which 2.4.1 effectively eliminates any jolting or surges and consequently allows for a smooth clutch operation when pulling away, stopping and gear changing. Since its 2.4.2 1.2 introduction in 2000, the Knorr-Bremse electronic clutch Port 1 Fig. 3: Simplified section view of an electronic clutch actuator - clutch being disengaged. actuator has been fitted to over 350,000 commercial Design Clutch engagement (provide drive)

In order to engage the clutch, the ECU signals outlet valves (2.4.3 and 2.4.4) to open and thereby vent the cylinder (1.1). The reset forces of the clutch then vehicles, playing an important role in contributing to The clutch actuator is mounted directly onto the clutch 1 housing which is attached to the gearbox. (see fig.1). move the lever of the clutch, and therefore the operating piston (1.2), to the right, against the spring force, to its starting position. efficiency, safety and comfort. The clutch is applied automatically as commanded by the gearbox electronic control unit. The clutch process 2.4.3 itself is carried out pneumatically. The cable harness 2.6 is integrally fixed to the clutch actuator and therefore 2.4.4 cannot be removed. 1.2

The clutch actuator consists of two main parts (fig.2), the mechanical module (1) and the electronic 1.1 2.5 module (2). The operating piston (1.2) is located in 2.4 the mechanical module (1). In the electronic module (2) are four valves (2.4), the clutch sensor 2.3 Cable harness (2.1), internal electronics (2.3) and a non-return . 2.1 The cover (2.5) of the rear housing (2.2) contains the 2.2 Electronic clutch actuator 2 Photo source: ZF integrated fixed connection for the clutch actuator’s cable harness (2.6).
