Salvation Prayer Salvation Prayer I call on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the word of God declares: “And it shall come to pass that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” KJV Acts 2:21 I confess with my mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord and I believe in my heart that he was raised from the dead by the mighty power of God in agreement with Romans 10:9 which says: “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” I believe in Jesus Christ and I receive eternal life according to the promise of the Word of God which says: “That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” KJV John 3:15-16 Jesus teaches that I must be born both of water and of spirit in order to enter into the Kingdom of God: “Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.” KJV John 3:5-6 I ask my heavenly Father to fill me with the Holy Spirit for it is written “If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?” KJV Luke 11:13 and to deliver me from darkness, and translate me into the kingdom of His dear Son redeeming me by His blood and forgiving my sins as it is written: “Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins” KJV Colossians 1:13-14 I understand that the promise is to me, regardless of how far away from God I am right now for it is written: “For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.” KJV Acts 2:39 I receive the free gift of righteousness unto justification of life in accordance with the Word of God which states: For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ. Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. KJV Romans 5:17-18 I receive the filling of the Holy Ghost and ask that I might speak in other tongues as the spirit gives me utterance as it is written: And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. KJV Acts 2:4 I ask for the baptism into Your love, Father God, for you are LOVE – 1 John 4:8. I receive your love and acknowledge that I am accepted in the Beloved – NKJV Ephesians 1:6 I take You at Your Word. I confess that Jesus is Lord. And I believe in my heart that You raised Him from the dead. Thank You for coming into my heart, for giving me Your Holy Spirit as You have promised and for being Lord over my Life. Amen .

How are any of us to know if we “hate” our families enough, or “love” Jesus just enough? Are we forgiven and accepted by Christ dying or not? We lead new believers to think that is enough when there is clearly so much more. How is anyone to know for sure they are going to heaven? Your sermon was great, and people need to know this, but it creates a hole in one's heart. It creates doubt. How can anyone ever measure up? How do we ever have peace? When I read what Jesus says I find it hard to believe that anyone can ever reach this heavenly goal. Thanks for putting it out there. ANSWER FROM PASTOR TONY These are very good questions, and I appreciate your heart and struggle. You need to remember that all sermons that I preach have a context. This Sunday's sermon had the context of confronting easy believism and casual, cultural Christianity. So my emphasis was more on a person's commitment rather than Christ’s work on the cross. There are other messages that I have preached that emphasize the grace of God and not falling into legalism. I did a message the Sunday following Easter, April 15, 2012, where I emphasized the grace of Christ in a person's relationship.

    HINDUISM AND CONCEPT OF SALVATION {With special reference to The Bhagavad Gita} Tahira Basharat∗ The concept of salvation is present in almost all religions in its own distinct way. The primary purpose of all religions is to provide salvation to their followers and the existence of many different religions indicates that there is a great variety of opinion about what constitutes salvation and the means of achieving it. The term salvation can be meaningfully used in connection with so many religions, however, shows that it distinguishes a notion common to men and women of a wide range of cultural traditions. The monotheistic religions state that barrier between human and God is a sin. The monotheistic religions define salvation as entering a state of eternal communion with God, which means that personhood will not be abolished but perfected. However, they differ greatly on the way one can be saved and on the role Jesus Christ has in it. According to Judaism and Islam, salvation is attained by performing good deeds and following the moral law. According to Christianity this is not enough and the role of Jesus Christ as Savior is essential. Other Eastern religions, such as Buddhism and Taoism, take salvation as an illumination, meaning the discovery of and conformity of oneself with an eternal law that governs existence. Dualistic religions, which state that two opposed forces of good and evil rule our world, see salvation as a return to an initial angelic state, from which humans have fallen into a physical body. Salvation, for the Hindu, can be achieved in one of three ways: the way of works, the way of knowledge, or the way of devotion.

They come from two separate Christian traditions: Catholicism and Lutheranism. The concept of salva- tion is so crucial that it is the essence of understanding Christianity and, if recognized as the goal of every human life, the effort of understanding it becomes even more impor- tant. An insight into the notion of salvation, based on the indication of similarities and differences in its understanding, makes it more comprehensible and accessible to every Christian. Chitwood The expression, “salvation of the soul,” has been misused in Christian circles over the years to the extent that any correct Scriptural teaching on the subject has become almost nonexistent. Soul-winning has erroneously been equated with reaching the unsaved with the mes- sage of the gospel of grace; and few Christians, viewing soul-winning in this manner, seem to even give the matter a second thought. Books have been written on soul-winning, Bible colleges and seminaries teach courses on soul-winning, and soul-winning confer- ences are held by these same institutions and by various Churches. But, among these groups, almost without exception, soul-winning is viewed from a non-Scriptural perspective. Soul-winning in Scripture has to do with the saving of the soul/life of those who are already saved, whether Israelites in the Old Testa- ment or Christians in the New Testament. When it comes to the saving or the losing of the soul/life in this respect, solely from a Scriptural standpoint, the unsaved are NOT in view. But exactly what is soul-winning? And why is there so much confusion on this subject today? The questions are interrelated, and Scripture is quite clear concerning the answers to both. Law and politics in that turbulent decade are well doc- umented but remain controversial, and the same thing can be said of contemporary innovations in mass media and the arts. One major area remains ambiguous or poorly assimi- lated, however—the new religious vision, which for a tanta- lizing moment in the American sixties brought East and West together in a progressive cultural synthesis. Its promise was never completely fulfilled, for reasons I will try to sketch here. But the depth and authenticity of that spiritual shift need to be more widely acknowledged. A political model currently governs interpretations of the sixties because of the enduring reform movements born in that period, including environmentalism, feminism, and gay liberation. Their mobilizing energy, as well as the organiza- tional style that would also be adopted by antiwar protests, initially came from the civil rights movement sparked by the us Supreme Court’s 1954 decision declaring segregation in public schools unconstitutional. In that crusade, it must be remembered, ordained Protestant ministers such as Martin Luther King, Jr., played a leading role, as they also had in nineteenth-century abolitionism. The civil rights movement, with its hymns and anthems, appealed not just to secular standards of social justice but to a higher moral code.     THE IDEA OF SALVATION IN CONTEMPORARY WORLD RELIGIONS Tokunboh Adeyemo In one form or another, nearly all the world's religions and ideologies promise their adherents some form of peace - some way of deliverance from the precarious plight humanity is in. Hinduism and Buddhism promise nirvana, a blessedness through extinction of individuality and desires. In African Traditional Religion, a worshipper believes that through divina­ tion and prescribed sacrifices he can be delivered from his enemies, real and· potential, secure the help of his ancestors and the gods and be prosperous in life. Islam strongly advocates submission to Allah as the pathway to peace. And modern humanism looks forward to a society freed from all forms of violence - social, cultural, economic or political. All these goals can be referred to as 'salvation'. Are they all- equally valid? If so, how do all these ways of being saved fit alongside Jesus' words: 'I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man comes to the Father, but by me'? Or Peter's declaration: 'There is no other name (besides Jesus Christ) under heaven given to men by which we must be saved'? There is an important sense in which it can be said that the doctrine of salvation forms the theological watershed between Judea-Christian faith and all other faiths and ideologies. Even within Christendom as Carl Braaten argued, 'the whole of theology is inherently developed from a soteriolog ical point of view. Salvation is not one of the many topics, along with the doctrine of God, Christ, church, sacraments, eschatology, and the like.
