Mole Antoneliana - The National Cinema Museum

The National Cinema Museum is housed in the Mole Antonelliana, a historic building and iconic symbol of Turin. The tour runs between incredible objects, testimonies of the history of pre-film and interactive stations where fun is to be had while experiencing the different scientific discoveries from the 1400’s to modern times. Piedmont beyond Turin: from the picturesque hills of the Langhe to the landscapes of Monferrato, from the romantic atmosphere of the lakes to the splendid alpine mountains.

Piedmont is lucky to have its geographic location: the hills, plains and mountains are equally distributed, and the Ligurian Riviera and the Cinque Terre are within reach for day trips. Just outside of Turin, heading south, find the roads leading through the famous hills of Roero and Langhe with their views of vineyards and castles. Find also, the Monregalese Valleys, less known, but home to magnificent villages, normally overlooked on the most popular tourist routes. To the east of Turin, the river divides the territory into two parts: in the north, the and to the south endless rolling hills and gentle slopes, Monferrato. Wine Regions and cuisine, greenery and history, this territory preserves the most authentic and genuine Piedmontese identity. North of the capital, towards , the mountains are reflected in the setting of Lake D'Orta and Lake Maggiore, creating a timeless atmosphere: the tranquility and relaxation, even during periods tourist high season! Piedmont has a great selection of local quality cheeses: there are 9 types recognized as PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) and more than 30 local varieties spread throughout the territory. Mainly the mountainous and hilly regions, where there is a strong agro-pastoral front, have contributed to making Piedmont one of the highly renowned regions of Italian cheese. Among some of the most famous cheeses produced in Piedmont are the , Gorgonzola, and of . In Bra “Cheese” is held every two years, an event by Slow Food that is dedicated to the dairy sector, with both Italian and international products.

The "Tonda Gentile trilobata" is the variety of hazelnut cultivated in Piedmont. Based on its peculiar characteristics, it is particularly suitable for gastronomics and sweets production, this particular cultivar Piedmontese was recognized as a PGI product and manufacturers can therefore display the trademark "Piedmont Hazelnut". After the Second World War, Ferrero, which at the time was the largest pastry producer in Alba, used the Piedmontese hazelnut to create a soft spreadable cream, due to the shortage of cocoa. The spread then got its name Nutella and was destined to become the most famous of the world. For lovers of food and gastronomy, one of the most fun and interesting activities is the opportunity to put your culinary skills to the test or simply to get to know more with a nice glass of wine in your hands. The Piedmont cuisine offers many opportunities and you can try different types of cooking classes based on the level of skill required: from the professional experiences to simple cooking demonstrations, with themes and ingredients that may vary from fresh pasta, appetizers (Piedmont has an abundance!) and desserts. Have you ever gone in search of wild herbs? Could you recognise any of them? Do you know that most of them are edible and have excellent nutritional properties? The search for wild herbs is an activity that takes place outdoors, in the countryside or in the mountains, but also in the city's green areas. Thanks to this, you can discover interesting scoops about the world of plants and learn which to collect in each season, how to use them for cooking and for their health benefits. The hike in the green is led by an experienced naturalist who is available all periods of the year throughout the Piedmont area and will guide you into a new world to explore and enjoy.

The land of

Piedmont could be a synonymous for the word truffle, especially the famous " Pico", thanks to favorable climate conditions. The areas of Monferrato, Langhe and Roero, have always had the best conditions to develop and concentrate flavors and aromas of the truffles. The "trifolao", as said in dialect, also known as the truffle hunters, are the true custodians of knowledge regarding this precious natural product. They work together with their trusted trained dogs. It is up to the dogs to sniff out and find the truffles, making it possible to then serve on the Piedmontese restaurant tables: from simplest, but most authentic taverns to the great restaurants, where renowned chefs create the most creative pairings to enhance flavors, truffles are exceptional in every dining experience. The most important global event dedicated to truffles takes place every year in Alba: La Fiera Internazionale del Tartufo Bianco (the International Fair of the White Truffle). An event that attracts thousands of visitors and, through gastronomy, art, culture, and celebrates the unique relationship between the truffle and its chosen land.

In this unique and captivating workshop, whereby experts from the “Centro Nazionale di Studi del Tartufo” (National Truffle Study Centre) will be exclusively at your disposal to reveal all the secrets of this rare, fascinating and mysterious culinary delight. Piedmont is home to 17 DOCG wines out of a total of around one hundred in Italy. It is the Region with the highest number of DOCG wines. Most of these DOCG wines in Piedmont are produced with different and indigenous such as , Barbera, - red grapes - or Cortese, Erbaluce di , Moscato - white grapes. Other grapes are not included in DOCG wine production but are very important and special anyway. Wine, sugar, herbs: these are the ingredients of the drink of kings and queens. Get to know the History of this flavored wine, while tasting some of the best Vermouth in the world. Then take your time to prepare a vermouth, according to your taste, with the help of one of the most renowned Vermouth experts. A short introduction to the history of flavored wines and Vermouth and the chance to smell, touch and taste some of the herbs that make up a Vermouth... But this is just the beginning of our alchemic lab: each participant will have 1/4 liter of white wine to produce their personal Vermouth, using different herbs and following basic rules of red and white Vermouth production. Esperienza Vermouth® is a 2 hour workshop run by a leading expert of mixology. Includes tastings and vermouth preparation, with a light Aperitivo at the end. Our different workshop options:

The tradition of spirits

Wine production and cultivation of grapes in Piedmont has always been high, as well as the variety of spices and herbs, thanks to the proximity of the mountains, to the trade initiated by the Savoy family and the geographical position of the region which, in turn, has always been a crossroad from Genoa to the rest of Europe. So thanks to the abundance of raw material, the world of spirits and liqueurs in Piedmont had major development with peculiar productions like Vermouth and the Barolo Chinato, but also Grappa, Pastis, Brandy, bitters and liqueurs. It does not lack in historic companies, wineries and laboratories who open their doors to visitors to share the truly unique and exceptional products.
