Simpático film que intenta recuperar el estilo de las comedias conyugales de los años 30´. Norman Jewison crea un vehiculo para lucimiento de Doris Day al gusto de sus admiradores. 20.00 hrs. Dur. 91´. Hubo una época en donde Peter Jackson no se había interesado en adaptar la obra de J R R Tolkien y paradójicamente sus realizaciones distaban enormemente de lo que conocemos. Su primer obra, Bad Taste (Mal Gusto) quiso que fuera lo más fiel a su título. Rodada con amigos, fines de semana libres y una casa prestada, Jackson logra hacer una increíble comedia de extraterrestres. Chaplin Algo de Almodovar 18.15 / 20.15 hrs. MATADOR Ídem. España 1986. Idioma: español. Color. Dur. 102´. Un torero que a causa de una herida debió retirarse tiene la obsesión de matar. Luego de mantener sexo, matando siente el inefable placer de una tarde en la plaza de toros. Almodóvar en los años 80¨ era considerado el rey del cine cutre y decide incursionar en un cine más serio con esta historia de sexo y muerte. Film oscuro y perturbador con una trama que cae en lo inverosímil pero tiene fluidez y mantiene atento al espectador. MIERCOLES 6 Lumiere 80 Años Guerra Civil Española 16.00 / 19.00 hrs. TIERRA ESPAÑOLA The Spanish Earth. EE.UU 1937. Dir. Joris Ivens. Guión: Lillian Hellman, Archibald Macleish, John Dos Passos, Ernest Hemingway, Prudencio de Pereda. Con: Lillian Hellman, Archibald Macleish, John Dos Passos, Ernest Hemingway, Prudencio de Pereda. Idioma: inglés sub. B&N. Dur. 54´. Uno de los más estremecedores documentos sobre la Guerra Civil estructurado sobre dos ejes: la lucha de los milicianos y los movimientos campesinos. Hemingway es el narrador del film que tiene como premisa ser propaganda del bando republicano en el que participan destacados norteamericanos pero sin dejar de mostrar y recrear la desolación de la guerra y la resignación de sus víctimas. España mítica y doliente en un valioso testimonio de Joris Ivens con excelente fotografía. 80 Años Guerra Civil Española 17.00 hrs. RAZA Idem. España. 1941. Dir. José Luis Sáenz de Heredia. Guión José Luis Sáenz de Heredia, Antonio Román (Novela: Francisco Franco). Con: Alfredo Mayo, Ana Mariscal, José Nieto, Blanca de Silos, Rosina Mendía, Pilar Soler, Julio Rey de las Heras, Luis Arroyo, Raúl Cancio, Manuel Arbó. Dur. 113´. Película representativa del fascismo español basada en novela homónima de Jaime de Andrade, seudónimo tras el cual se esconde Francisco Franco. Durante la guerra hispano- estadounidense en 1898 fallece en Cuba un marino. Su viuda educa a sus hijos. La hija se casa con un militar, uno de los jóvenes entra en un convento, otro sigue la carrera política y el restante sigue la carrera militar. La guerra civil provoca la desintegración de la familia. Hay que situarse en el contexto histórico al ver el film. En esta oportunidad la temática de la Guerra Civil Española es vista en plena pos guerra con un postulado ideológico y poco rigor histórico. Entretiene, interesa está razonablemente bien lograda para el cine español de la época. Film prácticamente desconocido que tenemos una valiosa oportunidad de exhibir gracias a la gentileza de un coleccionista cineclubista. 20.00 hrs. FENOMENOS Freaks. EE.UU 1932. Dir. Tod Browning. Guión: Willis Goldbeck, Leon Gordon, Al Boasberg (Relato: Tod Robbins). Con: Wallace Ford, Leila Hyams, Olga Baclanova, Roscoe Ates, Henry Victor, Harry Earles, Daisy Earles, Rose Dione, Daisy Hilton, Violet Hilton, Schlitze, Josephine Joseph, Johnny Eck, Frances O'Connor, Peter Robinson, Olga Roderick, Angelo Rossitto. Idioma: inglés. Sub. B&N. Dur. 64´. Dentro de la llamada “Era Pre- Code” del Cine de Hollywood, sin censura se podía hacer prácticamente cualquier cosa. Tod Browning lo pone a prueba llevando a cabo una película con personas que realmente sufrían algún tipo de discapacidad y que su vida era prácticamente la vida circense. Idioma: ingles. Sub. Color. Dur. 101´. Cassius Clay surge de los ambientes más marginales de la sociedad americana alcanzando varias veces el título mundial de campeón de boxeo de todos los pesos. Idioma: inglés. Sub. Color. Dur. 100´. Un hombre hipocondriaco que está seguro morirá pronto se preocupa para que su mujer al quedar viuda, tenga un nuevo marido. Comedia agradable al estilo de las americanas de los años 40´ con situaciones que provocan la risa, buen ritmo y funcional elenco. 20.00 hrs. GLEN O GLENDA Glen or Glenda. EE.UU 1953. Dir. Idioma: español. Color. Dur. 100´. Dos hermanos, mujer y hombre, dedicados al mundo del espectáculo fueron marcados por la separación de sus padres y un oscuro secreto que esconde la mujer. Retrato creíble de Madrid nocturna de la década del 80´ en que se inscriben las historias del homosexual complicado con sus amores y la hermana acomplejada con su secreto. Almodovar dota de fuerza plástica al film, le agrega música de jazz que subraya bien el clima de las historias y cuenta con una excelente interpretación de Carmen Maura. Los mejores jugadores de póker compiten por el triunfo en Nueva Orleans. Un joven jugador se une a los tahúres pretendiendo derrotar al rey del juego. Casi la mitad del metraje lo ocupa la partida final que posee un incontenible suspenso y justifica la menos atractiva primera mitad que presenta a los personajes. Excelente elenco. 20.00 hrs. Tras la muerte de Juarez , en México dominan la injusticia y el terror. Un pistolero vagabundo llega a un pueblo fronterizo donde dos familias se disputan el control del territorio. Es testigo del intercambio de oro por armas entre mexicanos y soldados de la unión. Buen manejo del tiempo, violencia con toques sub realistas, eficaz música de Morricone y Clin Eastwood como protagonista ideal hacen que Leone logre un atractivo film.

Preface With some hesitation at CBS, Cayuga Productions continued Twilight Zone for what would be its last season, with a thirty-six episode pipeline – a larger count than had been seen since its first year. Producer Bert Granet, who began producing in the previous season, was soon replaced by William Froug as he moved on to other projects. The fifth season has always been considered the weakest and, as one reviewer stated, “undisputably the worst.” Harsh criticism. The lopsidedness of Seasons 4 and 5 – with a smattering of episodes that egregiously deviated from the TZ mold, made for a series much-changed from the one everyone had come to know. A possible reason for this was an abundance of rather disdainful or at least less-likeable characters. Most were simply too hard to warm up to, or at the very least, identify with. Los abrazos rotos (2009) reproduce varias escenas de Mujeres al borde de un ataque de nervios. No obstante, las referencias a ésta en Los abrazos rotos nos dejan con una sensación de desencanto. Las referencias crean una fragmentación del pasado y en última instancia no cumplen con su meta original. La relación entre estas dos películas demuestra las debilidades inherentes en la reconstrucción de filmes dentro de otros filmes, lo cual se conecta con la idea de Baudrillard que el cine está constantemente cometiendo plagio a la hora de rehacerse. Yet the references to the latter in Broken Embraces fail to enchant, instead creating a fragmentation of the past and ultimately shifting from a breakdown to being simply broken.
