Childcare Support

Tax Free Childcare Scheme In 2017 the Government introduced a new Tax Free Childcare Scheme to help with the cost of childcare . The scheme is not offered via the employer but rather through an online government portal . For every 80p a parent pays in, the government will top up an extra 20p .

This is equivalent of the tax most people pay - 20% - which gives the scheme its name, ‘taxfree’ . The government will top up the account with 20% of childcare costs up to a total of £10,000 - the equivalent of up to £2,000 support per child per year .

The scheme operates in quarterly entitlements – a parent will be entitled to support for three months, but will then need to reconfirm their status and details every three months .

To qualify, parents will have to be in work for at least 16 hours a week and earning not more than £100,000 per year . Further information about the scheme is available at www .gov .uk .

Family Information Service Finding the right childcare is a concern for all parents . FIS can help you with all your queries about finding, and paying for childcare, accessing other children’s services and things for children to do .
