ACCOUNTS FOR PAYMENT: Nil

PRESIDENT’S REPORT: Andrew Duchesne welcomed members and guest, Rod McDonald. He then went on to acknowledge the tragedy of the recent Tathra Bush Fire. He commended particularly Neil Wood for his endeavours to save several homes including Peter Clarks' in Riverview Crescent. Also praise for Nipper lrvings' work to save his own and Col McRae's premises. Unfortunately three Heritage cars and one home belonging to Club members are known to have been destroyed in the fire. Nipper lrving responded by thanking all their friends, members of the Car Club, and the RFS for all the support offered to him, Col, Anthony Dack and others following the fire. Col and Pat McRae also have extended their thanks to all offers of help and support.

GENERAL BUSINESS: President Andrew and Henry Petterson spoke about a possible visit to Peter Learmont’s automobile shed at Pambula. He has a large collection of cars, including an original '57 Chev in black & white imported personally from Canada. The Bega Club will try to organise a mid-week run to look at both the private collection, and the Pambula Club Shed together. Monies raised from Fines and Raffles during the 2017 year are to be donated to the Bega District Nursing Home. A total of $ 779.50. The Club have decided to raise this amount to $1000.00, a cheque for this sum to be forwarded to "Sapphire Coast Community Aged Care". The recipient of funds raised for the year 2018 was discussed. Barbara Black moved all funds be donated to the Rural Fire Service. Motion seconded by Lyn Murphy, all agreed and the motion was accepted.

EVENTS: Col McRae has asked to be excused from his role as co-events organiser for some recovery time following the Tathra fire, so Ray Ubrihien is in charge for the foreseeable future. Next weekend is a Progressive Luncheon. Cars leave the Meals on Wheels rooms at 9.30 am on Saturday April 7th. Morning tea at the home of Garry & Cathy Twyford, then on to Magic Mountain for lunch. Ray needs definite numbers tonight to plan catering quantities for a BBQ. Please bring salad and/or slice to share. There was to be a midyear Registration Day on May 13th at Anthony Dack's workshop.

This will be confirmed by the May Club meeting.

4

May 20th is National Motoring Heritage Day. lt was suggested that Bega and Pambula Clubs have a joint rally to visit the Cooma Car Club. This is yet to be confirmed.

Upcoming Events:  National Motoring Heritage Day at Cooma – will be discussed further at next month’s meeting.  The April Mid-week run will be on Thursday April 19th, leaving Bega at 11.00am to travel to Colombo Park, for lunch.

REGISTRAR’S REPORT: No registrations for the past month. Sunday 13th May is Club Rego Day.

SERGEANT: Gary Smith first fined himself for not having any fines! Garry Thornton fined Nipper lrving for making wife lrene shower him during his convalescence following a hand injury. lrene then fined said husband for leaning on and subsequently breaking the soap dish. Col McRae, in his absence, was fined for being the indisputable "Scoop Net Champion” of Wallaga Lake. Janelle fined husband Henry for acquiring a new 'girlfriend'. MADGE! Aka a 1966 Morris Mini Deluxe. Previous owner was Henry's niece who had kept the Morris in her shed for over 20 years. Needs a lot of love and TLC to restore to a favourite Racing Yellow hue, but Henry keen for the challenge. Ray Ubrihien fined Henry for mistakenly introducing a fellow bus traveller as his sister, when she was actually his aunt. It was mentioned that Col McRae lost his Charger keys during the evacuation of his property during last month’s Tathra fire. The car was then free run down the street as far as possible until the steering locked, and had to be abandoned. Luckily it survived, and the keys were found in a melted state in the grass some days later. Unfortunately his Vauxhall Velox was lost when his garage caught on fire.

SOMETHING OLD: Tony Watson brought in some old Tyre Tube Patches; also a small bottle of Valve Cleaner and a Redi-Pack card of soft repair wire.

RAFFLE: $10 Bryson Banfield. Eggs to Barbara Black & lrene lrving. Easter eggs to Cathy Twyford. Thank you to those who generously donate prizes each month.

NEXT MEETING: 7th May 2018 at Bega Valley Meals on Wheels Rooms Bega Street Bega.

MEETING CLOSED: by President Andrew at 8.08pm

ANZAC Day — Wednesday, 25 April 2018 Although our Club was not called upon to drive anyone, Club Members were able to attend Services and Marches in their local towns including Bega, Bemboka, Bermagui, Candelo, Cobargo, Merimbula, Pambula, Tathra and Wolumla. There was a large roll up of people at all services across the Bega Valley which paid tribute to the men and women of the Australian Armed Services who participated in, and in many cases paid the supreme sacrifice in war so that we, current Australians, may enjoy the freedom that our great country enjoys. LEST WE FORGET
