QUEER Filmfest in Weiterstadt. wir begrüßen Euch ganz herzlich zur 20. Ausgabe des QUEER Als 1996 die schwul-lesbischen Filmtage Weiterstadt Filmfest Weiterstadt — vielen wohl auch noch bekannt als gegründet wurden, konnte noch keiner ahnen, dass daraus schwul-lesbischeFilmtageWeiterstadt! eine zwanzigjährige Erfolgsgeschichte werden würde. Aus dem Bedürfnisheraus,Filmemitschwulenbzw.lesbischenInhalten AusunzähligenLangfilmenundausüber150Kurzfilmenhaben zu zeigen, entwickelte sich die anfangs kleine Filmreihe zum wir ein spannendes und abwechslungsreiches Programm längstenundältestenqueerenFilmfestivalinderMetropolregion erstellt. Die Entscheidung, welche Filme es ins Programm Rhein-Main. Zu dieser Entwicklung beglückwünsche ich schaffen, ist uns oft nicht leicht gefallen. Schließlich haben Jochen Pollitt und seine ehrenamtlichen Helfer. Das Filmfest wir zehn schwule, vier transidente und zehn lesbische trägt weiterhin zur Akzeptanz von gleichgeschlechtlichen Filme ausgesucht, zudem gibt es den ein oder anderen Partnerschaften in der Region bei und macht auf ihre aktuellen Überraschungsfilm. Euch erwartet ein Genremix der besonderen Art: Im Kommunalen Kino Weiterstadt werden dieses Jahr vom klassischen lesbischen Spielfilm (Belle Saison), über wieder über 20 schwul-lesbische und queere Filme und Dokumentationen (Transit Havanna), hinzu zu liebevollen Dokumentationen an rund 30 Aufführungsterminen gezeigt. schwulenKomödien(FourthManOut,Kurzfilme). DESCRIPTORS *Drama; *Learning Processes; Metaphors; Qualitative Research; *Scholarship ABSTRACT Using qualitative and interpretive methodologies, this dissertation analyzed Richard Courtney's writings to interpret his basic ideas on learning through drama. It focused on later writings (1989, 1990, 1995, 1997) in which Courtney distilled ideas he had been working on for as many as 30 years. It approached Courtney's texts using dramatistic metaphors which concretized his predominantly abstract writings. These metaphors focused on finding the basic elements of a drama: the setting, the act, the actor, and the Other. Through the lenses afforded by these metaphors, the thesis examined Courtney's wide-ranging, eclectic and often imprecise ideas to distill major themes. Courtney used notions like metaphor, symbol, ritual, Being, mind, perspective, oscillation and quaternity with apparently shifting definitions and loosely circumscribed meanings. It collected and analyzed Courtney's meanings recursively, both distilling Courtney's meanings and expanding them through concrete hypothetical examples. Courtney wrote about drama in abstract terms, using notions he had garnered from other disciplines to describe the process of learning through drama. The final construction that emerged in this dissertation represents the experience of the actor/learner: it is concentric, radiating from a nub which represents the feelings and imagination of the actor.

She was delayed by an unexpected telephone call from President Bush wishing her a happy birthday. The ten- minute call from the White House was the latest in a series of tributes that poured in from around the world. It marked yet another highlight in the life of a woman who still casts a huge shadow over the Conservative Party. The red carpet was rolled out for Lady Thatcher, who was dressed in a navy blue cocktail coat and silk chiffon dress designed by Camilla Milton. Lady Thatcher, who looked frail, made no public comment as a crowd of wellwishers lined the streets to catch a glimpse of Britain's first woman Prime Minister. The 650-strong guest list was a roll call of honour from the 1980s Thatcher heyday. Michael Portillo, who was once seen as her anointed heir, made a surprise appearance. He said: "She was influential in her day but not now." But the former Prime Minister also sprinkled the list with some surprise names from both sides of the political divide. The Queen, in a shimmering silver dress, the Duke of Edinburgh, and the Prime Minister were the principal guests at the drinks party in the gold-embossed ballroom of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Hyde Park, in Knightsbridge.

    Sarah Lawrence College DigitalCommons@SarahLawrence Dance Theses Dance Graduate Program 5-2020 The Naughty Boy Dancing Queen: Embodied Agency In Queer Transgression and Conceptual Muchness Hank Bamberger Follow this and additional works at: https://digitalcommons.slc.edu/dance_etd Part of the Dance Commons THE NAUGHTY BOY DANCING QUEEN: EMBODIED AGENCY IN QUEER TRANSGRESSION AND CONCEPTUAL MUCHNESS Hank Bamberger May 2020 Submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Fine Arts in Dance Sarah Lawrence College ABSTRACT This thesis aims to understand and glorify the transformative characteristics of theatrical transgressions and their lasting effects on performers and audiences in dance performance. In a history of queer transgression, artists have explored the concept of naughtiness in varied ways and through forms of embodied research, have attempted to activate unique landscapes for their own performative, excavational discoveries. By shifting modes of temperament within the stage arena, myself and others before me have attempted to achieve knee-jerk effects in live theater and concert dance in order to gain concretized levels of performative agency and authorship. Within this artistic genealogy, I pose the question: How can performances of conceptual muchness, defined as transgressing sensory (affective) and social norms, offer agency to a performer? This points to the possibility for creating utopias and dystopias in performance, where perfect worlds and destruction-based environments are formulated through surrealist structures and etherealized dreamscapes. These manifestations in my creative work are achieved through action-based doings and constitute an overt rejection of a white, patriarchal, hegemonic, cultural sphere that thrives on normativity. This project proposes that a performer can achieve agency through conceptual muchness: transgressive acts in performance that disrupt hegemonic norms of propriety by providing experiences of sensory overload and queer, overt resistance to assimilation.
