Biography Hello humankindness® Lloyd H. Dean, dedicated to preserving and expanding health care access for all, has been president and CEO of one of the nation’s largest health systems since 2000. Recognized as one of the most influential health care leaders, he directs more than 60,000 compassionate health professionals devoted to a kind and healing ministry that imbues health care with humanity.

Under Mr. Dean’s leadership, Dignity Health has grown to 39 hospitals, over 400 care centers, its ancillary services, home health care and medical group foundations in 21 states. An organizational transformation focused on the delivery of high-quality care and operational excellence is a hallmark of Mr. Dean’s many accomplishments. He also oversees Dignity Health’s broad and growing number of partnerships that apply innovation to create more positive patient experiences, more efficient care and services and healthier communities.

In early 2018, Dignity Health and Catholic Health Initiatives agreed to combine their ministries, and when the transition is completed, expected in late 2018, Mr. Dean will be co-CEO of the Chicago-based health system.

Lloyd H. Dean Mr. Dean draws his commitment to eliminating disparities of access, care and research from growing up near Muskegon, Mich., with eight siblings and no health insurance and President and CEO experiencing the effects of inadequate health care.
