The Speech

Whenever we sell an item in person, we always give this speech to the proud new owner:

1) These are latex-foam weapons, designed to be used on PEOPLE - not dogs, cats, trees, or concrete posts.

2) Dirt, sand, rocks, and tree bark all act like sandpaper to the finish. Hit people, and don't drag the sword in the dirt. Only hit the flat area - and never hit the edge - of metal armor!

3) NEVER place the weapon tip down. Place it pommel down, and place the pommel onto your shoe - not the ground.

4) Thrusting must be done at a 45 degree angle or greater, or with a Thrusting Tip on the weapon.

5) If the item gets dirty, rinse off any latex-covered portion. Dry it with a clean, lint free towel.

6) Store your weapon away from direct sunlight and away from excessive heat. Store your weapons wrapped in a sheet or a towel If you have more than one latex weapon do NOT let the latex touch either in storage or during transport. Latex wants to bond with latex, and will do so in short order.

7) Once every few months, spray the latex finish with Silicone Spray, which is available in a large can from your home center for about $9. Wipe off the excess, and wait. The latex will expand and crackle. Thirty minutes later the latex will shrink back to normal and look like new.

8) At any convention, do NOT let Security over-tighten the zip ties used to identify approved props! Ensure there is enough space between the zip tie and the prop so you can remove the zip tie without damaging the prop!

Knighthawk Armoury believes that the safety standards are substantially higher in a consistently made factory product than in individually constructed weapons whose quality relies on the person creating the item. Though we know that your weapons are perfect, there are sub-standard weapons in use. Few individuals have access to specialized foam, injection-mold processing equipment, carbon-fiber cores, or Kevlar. The specialized foam is engineered for shock absorption and designed specifically for the US market, and these weapons are crafted for one purpose: safe LARP combat.

Another advantage is that most of these weapons are lighter than most individually constructed weapons, allowing for a greater degree of control while providing for more speed during combat! The lighter weight also translates to less force being applied from each blow.

Durability These weapons are designed from the core out to be safe and durable. The Kevlar covered tips help prevent breakthrough. The specialized foam is the best available for shock absorption, yet it actively resists wear. The foam is covered in latex, painted for appearance, then coated with a water-based sealant that allows each weapon to last for years with regular use.

Care Maintenance is simple. Don’t lean them on their tips. Keep them off the ground and out of the dirt. Keep them away from excessive sunlight, heat, and moisture. Don’t fight against real swords. Keep out of blenders. Avoid teasing your pets: the cat will slice and the dog will bite. Wipe them down after each game. Once a month, spray the surface with a light coat of silicon lubricant (any brand will do) and wipe off the excess.

Shipping & Delivery Knighthawk Armoury offers free shipping on most items whose destination is within the continental United States, whose total is $50 USD or greater, and that does not include a shield or a weapon longer than 48 inches in length. On orders ineligible for free shipping, the USPS Priority Mail service is recommended for all domestic destinations, and the US Post Office Priority Mail International is recommended for all non-US destinations including APO and FPO addresses if the item is eligible (there are length restrictions). A variety of alternatives are available if required. The actual shipping costs will depend on the products ordered and the shipping options specified.

If the product is in stock, delivery will be made the next business day. If the product ordered is not in stock, delivery can normally be expected between 2 to 4 weeks after placement of your order. Our current inventory is available online for your convenience.
