Recognizing exemplary performance of STAR Students! Report cards are in for the first quarter of the 2002-2003 school year! Students’ Report cards were sent to STAR spon- sors recently. Sponsors are notified if students meet program requirements in the following areas: effort, conduct, at- tendance, tardiness, and academic performance. Congratulatory cards are sent to students who excel in these areas. Letters are sent to each parent noting compliance with program requirements or areas needing improve- ment. Students are asked to write their sponsor and tell them what measures they will take to improve for the following quarter. Principals are sent a copy of each parent’s letter. This keeps all parties informed of a student’s progress… the donor who provides the scholarship, the parent who is concerned about their child’s education, and the principal whose facility delivers the education. The STAR program looks for ways to help parents find tutors or avenues for help.
