Orbis International, various projects since 2010 Livery design, cabin styling and uniform design for the world’s only Flying Eye Hospital

LIFT AERO DESIGN ORBIS INTERNATIONAL

The Flying Eye Hospital is a teaching facility that travels to developing countries, where volunteer surgeons who are flown in perform eye surgeries on the aircraft while local doctors seated in the front observe and learn through a video link.

The aircraft is a DC-10 that was donated by FedEx and then converted into an MD-10 (new cockpit).

Our work involved the non-hospital areas. Leveraging relationships formed with airline suppliers over the years, we secured donations of materials (leather, carpet, curtains, paint, laminates, Kydex panels, seatbelts, etc).

We had three goals: 1) to reassure patients and parents, most of whom are entering an aircraft for the first time; 2) attract talented volunteer physcians and nurses with a crisp and clean environment; and 3) create some WOW factor for potential financial donors when they walk onto the aircraft during tours at air shows.

LIFT STRATEGIC DESIGNLIFT AERO FOR TEAGUEDESIGN ORBIS INTERNATIONAL Communicating the essence of Orbis through the livery design.

The gently rising curve on the belly represents an incredibly inspiring journey, from vision impairment to sight and hope. Vivid royal blue on the tail makes the aircraft stand out in a massive way wherever she is. Light blue, where colors intersect, symbolizes the extraordinary contributions made by the volunteer physicians and pilots on each program and the synergies realized by Orbis in communities throughout the world.

LIFT AERO DESIGN ORBIS INTERNATIONAL Styling for non-hospital areas, with used hardware, donated seats and materials. Our work included coordination with suppliers for donations of materials.
