POST TITLE: Cleaner SALARY GRADE: NJC Grade B Point 1-2 HOURS: 28.75 hrs per week/38 weeks per year (term time) 07:30 – 14:00 Monday to Friday (Inclusive of total 45 mins unpaid breaks) REPORTS TO: Site Supervisor PURPOSE OF POST: To a highly efficient and reliable cleaning, deep cleaning and porterage service to the required standard and support the College’s aim to provide high quality education for all.

OVERVIEW OF ROLE

To provide a cleaning service under the instruction of the Site Supervisors. The cleaner will follow the processes and procedures set out by the College to ensure high standards are maintained and health and safety guidelines are adhered to.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Effective and efficient cleaning of areas to the required standard, as directed, using the correct techniques and equipment including deep cleaning. 2. Provide an on call service for immediate cleaning requirements. 3. Cleaning, mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, polishing, dusting, cleaning toilets and emptying litter bins as instructed. This will include cleaning areas of the Hall during the day between breaks/lunch. 4. Undertaking deep cleaning of areas as instructed including cleaning floors in the hall, gym and sports hall when not in use. 5. Cleaning and sanitising water dispensers across the College. 6. Moving furniture/small equipment, with assistance if necessary, to enable cleaning of all areas, including work surfaces and desk tops. 7. Locking and unlocking doors and windows as directed. 8. Undertake porterage duties across the College. 9. Replenishing sanitiser stations and supplies of toiletries, bin bags etc. as directed. 10. Safely removing and disposing of litter and waste to the designated disposal areas. 11. Act as a First Aider. 12. Operating powered equipment e.g. buff polishers, vacuum units, wet scrubbers. 13. Emptying vacuum cleaners and buffer vacuum bags at the end of each session, cleaning and checking all equipment after use and storing away in the designated area. 14. Reporting actual and potential problems, risks or faults with equipment to the Site Supervisors. 15. Following college policies & procedures when undertaking all tasks, in p particular those relating to health and safety. 16. Undertaking relevant training as required as directed by the Site Supervisor.

The Curriculum at Huxlow Our curriculum has been designed to deliver an exciting and stimulating five year progressive programme. We focus on key skills at Key Stage 3 for two years where we foster a love of learning through a broad and balanced curriculum.
