Sun 9 Olympia Symphony presents Wherefore Art Thou, Romeo? This program focuses on the play Romeo and Juliet (completed in 1595), and the young “star-crossed lovers” from feuding Italian families. The Overture to Bellini’s rarely-produced opera I Capuleti and Montecchi opens this concert. Romeo and Juliet inspired West Side Story, and the “Symphonic Dances” concert- hall work that Leonard Bernstein crafted from the full Broadway has become one of the most treasured pieces of American orchestral music.
