Precautions When Using a Bicycle

Bicycles are convenient and environment-friendly. However, if they are left on the street near train stations or in public places, they can be a hazardous obstruction for pedestrians (especially the elderly, the disabled and small children), as well as detract from the beauty of the town. In addition, they may also cause accidents, obstructing the passage of emergency vehicles and evacuation in such cases as when a fire occurs, as well as obstructing rescue activities. Machida City removes bicycles that are left on the street, and brings them to storage facilities. When claiming a bicycle or motorcycle that has been removed and taken to the storage facility, you must pay a fee of ¥2,000 for bicycles and ¥4,000 for motorcycles.
